“I want you to come for me, daffodil. Right here. Right now.”

Tilting her head back, she cries out.

“That’s it, be my good girl and give it to me.” Her brow furrows, and her lips part as she moves against me. Grasping her hips, I help her move, mesmerized by her flushed face. Arching, she cries out as wetness soaks through her jeans. “You’re so damn pretty when you come for me.” I kiss her softly.

“This is insane,” She says breathlessly.

“Why?”

“It’s too fast.”

Capturing her chin, I force her to meet my gaze. “Is that what you really think?” I search her gaze.

“I- I don’t know.” Her lower lip trembles slightly, and my heart lurches in my chest.

Stiffening, I bow my head. “We can’t have that. I think you need time to come to the same conclusion I have, little Blume.” I run my lips down the side of her face, kissing the corner of her lips.

“You want to set the pace? I won’t touch you unless you ask me to.” Her legs lower to the ground, and I continue to support her as she leans against me.

I kiss her forehead. “And you will.”

She swallows hard. “I’m sorry.”

“No.” I place a finger over her lips. “I can wait. I want you to submit because you trust me, not because you’re turned on. We’re better than that.”

I knew New was smart, but I never would’ve called him evil before. Licking my lips, I admire how the white t-shirt sticks to his sweaty frame. His thick, black hair curls slightly over his forehead, and my stomach twists. Why did I pull away the other night?Because you’re terrified of how much he makes you feel.Right.

“Are you ready to see the progress?” He asks with a knowing grin.

“I. Yeah.” I stumble over my words.

Stretching his arms over his head, he pulls the shirt tighter, and I avert my gaze. The bastard knows exactly what he’s doing. His deep chuckle makes me scowl. The infuriating man uses every moment to remind me what I’m missing out on.

Neck deep in creating custom bookcases at the shop, he’s covered in sawdust and perspiration, and it has me ready to jump his bones. I follow him to the corner and gasp at the sight of the massive piece of raw wood. Sturdy and perfectly carved with intricate designs on the ends.

I trail my hands over the smoothness.

“We can stain them whatever color you like.”

I nod, entranced by the delicate work his massive hands have created. I feel his passion in every swirl and raised pattern.

“This is too much.” We both know he’s doing this in his spare time and the love he’s pouring into it astounds me.

“Nothing is too much for you, little Blume.”

“You’re bringing my dreams to life with your hands, Cowboy.”

“Because a real man helps build, he doesn’t tear down. There’s nothing I want more than you to be happy and fulfilled. I know without actions, words are cheap, but I’ve never had a problem proving myself.”

Unable to hold myself back, I throw my arms around his neck and breathe in his masculine woodsy scent.

“You show me with every interaction. Last night I was scared by how much I didn’t want to slow down. I can barely think straight when you touch me.” I bite the inside of my cheek and push myself to take the first leap since my breakup. “But I want all the same things you do.”

“And you’ll have it.” It’s a promise I believe.

“I want to give you something.” Running my fingers over the nape of his neck and down the front of his chest, I cup the growing bulge in his jeans.
