“Yeah, but I didn’t marry her,” Grayson says grudgingly.

“So we did things a little differently. It’s not bad.”

“It is if she gets hurt,” Boen cuts in.

“The only thing that’s going to hurt Fiona is the people she loves not supporting her.” I look at each face in the room. “Is that how you’re going to punish her? Take away your love?”

“Of course not,” David says. “I just hate to see her get hurt.”

“I’m not going to hurt her,” I promise. “And I’ll do everything I can to protect her from my life. Even if that means letting her go. It’ll kill me, but Fee comes first. And I bet I’m the only one who’s ever said that.” This is directed to Boen and David. “And this goes for Bexley too. I will protect her from her best friend, if it comes to that.”

“Dude.” The half-smile on Grayson’s face gives me an ounce of hope. “We’re not having a war because you couldn’t keep it in your pants.”

“Dude,” I repeat. “I did really well keeping it in my pants.”

“Too bad for Fiona,” Rachel murmurs.

“Can I sit down?” I ask. “Or are you still into the public flogging?”

Grayson motions to the seat beside Rachel. “I don’t know what to say to you,” he admits.

“How about congratulations?” I say in a sarcastic tone. “I met a girl—a really good one this time. I fell for her. I married her. Maybe it all happened a little fast for your liking, but c’mon—you fell in love on arealityshow for God’s sake.”

David snorts and I glance over with surprise to find a smile on his face. “He’s got you there.”

“And how long did it take you to fall for Biba?” Rachel asks him. “First night you met her?”

“Well…” David looks around. “Where is she?”

I point my thumb at the door. “In your room. “She said she wasn’t included in the inner circle so she stayed there.”

“Not inner circle, my ass,” David mutters as he gets to his feet. “She’s my inner circle.”

“Hey, mind grabbing my phone for me?” I ask as he gets to the door. “If there’s pictures out there, there’s got to be stuff I have to deal with. It’s in Fiona’s bathroom.”

David nods and disappears out the door.

“You sound like you’re Team Mase,” Shae says to Rachel as the door shuts behind David.

“I’m all for true love,” Rachel says. “If I can get over my hatred of Boen, then everyone deserves to find their person.”

“Fiona didn’t like me much at first either,” I confess.

“We know,” Boen and Grayson say in unison.

Oh.

“Tell us about the wedding,” Shae invites, cuddling into Emmett. “Or do you want to wait for Fiona?”

“I don’t know what’s coming out of that room,” I say, turning to Grayson. “Or what you think of all this. If we’d come clean about it right away, it would have spoiled things for you. Taking the attention off the Suitor stuff and turning it into the Mase show.”

“Yeah.” Grayson looks at his hands. “Kind of did that anyway.”

“It didn’t have to. The plan was to tell you before you left. It wasn’t going to be a secret. Both of us wanted to tell you. She’s Fee’s best friend, and you’re…you’re you.”

I swallow down the lump in my throat.

Grayson looks at me for a long moment before turning to Emmett. It’s like the two of them have some special pitcher/catcher telepathy because Emmett nods without either of them saying a word.
