As I finished chewing my last bite of salmon, Grayson’s laughter drew my gaze to his table. He caught my eye and threw me a wink. My temperature rose, and I reached for my water to cool myself down. But instead of pouring it down my throat, I fumbled and spilt it all over the front of my dress.

“Shit…” My cheeks flamed red.

“Wow, Josie.” Pete chortled. “Are you okay there?”

I picked up my napkin and patted down my dress, trying to absorb the excess water. “God, I’m such a klutz.”

“There should be a dryer in the restroom. Go dry off and I’ll order us some dessert.”

I hesitantly pushed up, too embarrassed to glance over at Grayson, who I could only guess witnessed the whole thing. As I walked along a tiny hallway and past the noisy kitchen, I sighed in relief when I finally located the restroom sign.

Pete was right, there was a dryer, but it was only for hands. I tried to manipulate the nozzle, but it wasn’t going to work. As I attempted to precariously angle myself under it, the door opened and I jumped away, pretending to act casual.

“Everything okay in here?”

My eyes bulged when Grayson entered. “You can’t be in here!”

“It’s a unisex restroom, Josie. Get with the times.” His eyes travelled down my body before his panty-dropping smirk appeared. “Need a little help with that?”

I grumbled. “Not unless you have a hair dryer in your pocket.”

He looked down at his pants and chuckled.

Realising what I said, I blushed. “Not what I meant.”

“Come on, take off your dress.”

“What?! No!”

Grayson rested his hands on his hips. “You can hide in the cubicle while I dry it for you.”

“You’d do that for me?” I asked, narrowing my gaze.

He ran his hand through his hair and pointed towards the toilets. “Just take it off.”

I darted into the cubical and shuffled out of my dress, flinging it over the door to Grayson. My dress disappeared, and a moment later the restroom door opened and closed, followed by silence.

My heart sank and fear surged through me. Did he just do a runner with my dress?! “Grayson?”

A fit of laughter broke out, right before the dryer started up.

I collapsed against the wall in relief. “Fuck you, Grayson.”

“Sorry, I couldn’t help myself.”

“You’re such a jerk.”

We remained quiet while the dryer did its thing.

“That should do it,” he said as the noise died down.

I reached my hand over the stall door and waved my fingers. With a moment of hesitation, Grayson handed over my dress. Slipping the warm material back over my body, I opened the door to meet Grayson’s hard stare. I attempted to walk out, but he boxed me in.

My heart raced. He was angry at me, and I knew why. “Adam told you, didn’t he?”

A flicker of sadness passed over him. “I don’t want to talk about that…I want to talk about why you’re here…with Peter?”

“He…he invited me.”
