Her eyes sparkled back at me in mischief. “Sky Jump?”

My stomach dropped at the thought and I ran my hands through my hair.

She stifled a giggle. “I’m joking. I never fucking want to do that again.”

I hung back my head and laughed. “Thank fucking Christ.”

Josie leant back on the handrail, always watching the people around her. Little did she know, I was always watching her. Even on the night we first met. I curiously observed her snapping unsuspecting individuals, and wondered why she’d miss the show to take photos of other people enjoying it.

It didn’t take long to figure her out though. Josie was always content to put her happiness aside, to be a bystander of others. Perhaps she didn’t believe she had the capacity to be happy again after losing her parents, but I was determined to prove her wrong.

“Wanna hit the clubs?” I asked jokingly, knowing she’d hate the idea.

She smirked. “Or maybe we should go see some strippers?”

I shook my head with a chuckle. “Or get a tattoo…”

Her lazy gaze settled over mine. “I’ll settle for a burger and fries?”

I smiled and inwardly fist pumped the air, glancing across the street at the diner where we first met. “I know just the place.”

THE END
