Page 16 of Capturing Love

Grayson dipped back under the water and popped up at the edge of the pool. His gaze trailed after me as I slipped out and tiptoed to the sun lounge. As I picked up a towel from the pile and wrapped it around my waist, my sideways glance caught his eyes moving over my body.

“Are you coming out?” I asked, hiding my blushing cheeks as I dried my hair.

“Just a sec,” he rasped after a moment of hesitation. He disappeared under the water again and proceeded to swim four solid laps of the pool.

Instead of watching temptation pass by my eyes every few seconds, I distracted myself by opening the champagne and filling two glasses.

Grayson finally rose at the edge, still looking reluctant to leave the water. “Can you pass me a towel?”

With a shrug, I grabbed one from the pile beside me and threw it over. He wrapped it around his waist as he exited the pool, while discreetly adjusting himself. Well, at least I’m not the only one affected.

The double sun lounge dipped as he lowered himself beside me. I offered him a glass and he took it with a lazy grin and leant back.

“To conquering my top five in six hours.” I smiled, leaning back with him.

“Almost.”

I clinked his glass. “Close enough.”

We lay side by side, quietly watching the sky change colour as the sun rose behind the hotel buildings.

“Your boyfriend is the lucky one,” Grayson said, after a long sigh.

“I don’t think so,” I muttered.

He nudged my side. “If he sees you the way I do, he is.”

My cheeks warmed at his compliment, but I shook my head with a sigh. “I’m going to break his heart.”

Grayson turned to me with a raised brow. “Why do you think that?”

“I’m just not great at relationships. I have…walls.”

“Walls worth climbing over I bet.”

I laughed and punched his arm. “Oh my god, can you stop?”

“What?” He chuckled, rubbing his arm like I actually hurt him.

“Flirting with me!”

He smirked. “I can’t seem to control my mouth around you.”

I looked down at his lips and unconsciously licked my own.

“Josie…” he warned in a deep voice.

My eyes quickly shot back to his and I jumped off the sun lounge. “I should go,” I said, rewrapping the towel around my waist.

Grayson lowered his gaze and turned back to the pool. “You probably should.”

I tucked my wet hair behind my ear and swallowed. “Well, thank you for spending the night with me. I mean…argh.” I threw my hands in the air. “You know what I mean!”

He smirked, but remained staring at the water in a daze. “I know what you mean.”

I pressed my lips together, not knowing how to say goodbye. “Well, you have a nice life, Gray.” I spun on my foot and headed towards the gate.

“Josie…”
