“Does a VIP suite at the MGM Grand count? Oh, and some swanky club where I appeared to be underdressed—well, overdressed.” My eyes bulged at the memory. “You should’ve seen how fucking short their skirts were. And no underwear! Like, nothing. Nada!”

Grayson burst out laughing and it was a divine sight. “This really is your first trip here, isn’t it?”

“It’s my first trip anywhere in a long time,” I uttered, with a sad smile.

His mouth dropped. “How long is long?”

“Six years. When I moved to the States.”

“Are you joking?” He pondered me for a moment before taking off his glasses. “Finish your burger. I’m going to take you on an express tour.”

“What?” I laughed. Surely he was joking.

“I’ve been here a million times. I know all the best places and know all the right people.”

I narrowed my eyes at him. “Why would you do that? You don’t even know me.”

He shrugged. “Well, for one, you’ve made my night a lot more interesting. And two, I can’t go back to my hotel until morning.”

“What? Why not?”

“Because I’ll never hear the end of it. My friends are relentless.”

I nodded with a strained laugh, not really understanding. “Riiight.”

We ate the rest of our burgers in a comfortable silence, which was odd considering he was a total stranger. I called for the bill and Grayson watched me hand over my company credit card with the strangest expression. Like he’d never been bought dinner before.

As we both stood to leave, I almost collided with one of the drunk men from earlier. Without hesitation, Grayson slipped his arm around my shoulders and ushered me out onto the Strip, holding me tightly against his side until we were out of sight. Once we were safe from detection, he gave me a little squeeze before dropping his arm, leaving a current of electricity flowing through my body, which was unexpectedly exhilarating. This is not good.

“So, where do your friends think you are right now?” I asked curiously, as we headed back towards the overpass.

Grayson sniggered. “In a strip club, getting a private show.”

My mouth fell open and my eyes lit up in amusement. “That’s a long and expensive lap dance.”

He chuckled. “I told the staff if they keep the guys distracted, I’ll give them a big tip in the morning. Hopefully with all the free-flowing booze, they won’t even notice I’m gone.”

I stopped suddenly and turned to him. “Wait, is this your buck’s night?”

He grimaced and nodded.

“You’re kidding?” I gasped as my eyes went round.

Grayson shook his head. “Well, it’s kind of a joint bachelor night with a friend of mine.”

I chuckled and continued walking up the stairs. “Why on earth are you having your buck’s in Vegas if you’re not into it?”

“It was a surprise trip,” he said, shoving his hands in his pockets. “I didn’t know where I was going until this morning. I personally think it’s just an excuse for our friends to escape their boring married lives.”

I laughed. “Ah, so you’re the last of the unmarried, hey?”

Grayson’s jaw twitched. “Much to my father’s disappointment.”

“Well he must be happy now. When’s the wedding?” I glanced up at him when he didn’t respond straight away.
