Grayson waited by the fence, smirking. “What’s his problem?”

Luci’s ears pricked up at the familiar voice.

“Small dog syndrome,” I muttered, watching the owner cradle his dog like a baby.

Luci leapt out of my hands and bounded towards Grayson.

“Luci, no!” I yelled, but it was too late. He lifted his paws up onto Grayson’s shoulders and licked his face. I winced, knowing exactly where that tongue had been a few minutes ago.

Their height was evenly matched, but Grayson started to crumble under his weight. I jogged over and dragged Luci off, before returning my attention to Grayson. I struggled not to laugh, but his shirt was now completely soiled with mud.

“I’m sorry.” I grimaced, attempting to brush it off, but all I was doing was rubbing it in.

His eyes met mine, but they weren’t angry. His shoulders weren’t even tense. Grayson smiled and raised an eyebrow. “Has Pete got any more shirts?”

As soon as we walked into my apartment, I took Luci out onto the terrace to wash him down and left him there to dry.

“I’ll just, um…get you that shirt,” I stammered, when I returned to find Grayson shirtless in the living room.

The side of his mouth twitched. “I don’t think we need it just yet, do you?”

A familiar ache began to stir below. “Gray…I don’t think we should keep doing this.”

He stepped closer. “Why?”

I maintained the distance. “Because you’re my boss.”

Grayson continued to move forward until I backed myself into the living room wall. “And?”

“And…we’re not allowed to have romantic relationships in the office.”

He shrugged. “We’re not in the office…and it doesn’t have to romantic…”

“Gray…” I whined, glancing out the window as his face drew closer.

His hot breath grazed my cheek. “Josie…”

My heart hammered and my core pulsed as his lips touched my neck.

“No one can know,” I whispered.

His mouth curved into a smile before giving me a little nip. “Know what?”

I let out a squeak as his pressed me up against the wall, and I playfully pushed back his chest. “You always get what you want, don’t you?”

He grinned, mischievously. “Mostly.”

Bending down, he wrapped his arms around my legs, and threw me over his shoulder. I burst out laughing as my rainbow hair bounced over his arse while he cave-man carried me to the bedroom. God help me…and my heart.

Due to my ridiculous schedule, I barely had enough time to breathe, let alone start a fling with my boss. I only appeared in the office for a few hours each day before rushing off to a gig most nights. Thankfully Grayson kept to himself, leaving me to concentrate on my work and recover from our last…session.

With nothing organised for the weekend ahead, I wondered if Grayson had anything planned. Probably attending some charity gala no doubt. Isn’t that what rich people do?

Sitting in the lunch room with Amy and Pete, I devoured my leftover lasagne while listening to Amy reel off something about Mercury Retrograde and her computer not working. As usual, Pete stared at her blankly, patiently waiting to change the subject.
