Thankfully, I didn’t have a gig that night so I was able to get a full eight-hour sleep in preparation for the weekend ahead. Reed happily took Luci, leaving me guilt free and bubbling with excitement.

Grayson was in a meeting with Adam and Marlene when I arrived at work the next morning, which meant I’d be able to concentrate on the finishing touches of the story I’d been working on. I glanced down at my usual tote, with a spare set of clothes and some toiletries hidden inside and grinned. Nothing looked out of the ordinary.

“Hey, Josie.”

I jumped. “Oh hey, Pete.”

He seemed oblivious to my edginess. “You mentioned yesterday that you didn’t have any plans this weekend, so I was wondering if…”

Grayson materialised beside him and Pete’s words caught in his throat. “You’re not about to ask Josie out, are you?” he probed, remarkably expressionless.

“Well…argh…no, I was just seeing if she…”

Grayson crossed his arms as he waited for a response.

“It doesn’t matter.” Pete hung his head and sulked back down the hallway.

Grayson turned to me with a grin.

“Really?” I asked, raising my eyebrows at his childish behaviour.

He shrugged. “Rules are rules.”

My mouth fell open and I shook my head. “You’re unbelievable.”

He winked. “You should know.”

Grayson walked back into his office, chuckling. He was so arrogant, yet so charming and irresistible, making me want him in every possible way.

The day dragged on. I finished my article by lunchtime, and was planning the week ahead. Grayson appeared to be struggling too, taking every opportunity to glance my way. His gaze burning hotter as each hour passed.

By 4pm, my body was on fire and I needed a break before I imploded. I escaped to the lunchroom to fill my glass with cool water and took a long sip, closing my eyes as the water slid down my throat.

When I opened them, Grayson was standing in front of me.

“Shit, Grayson,” I cried. “You frightened me.”

He smirked. “Glad to see you’re hydrating,” he said, refilling his glass. His eyes locked onto mine as he brought it to his mouth.

Mesmerised by his glistening lips, I mirrored the action of his tongue picking up the excess water, but it did nothing but fuel the fire.

“Meet me in the photocopy room in thirty seconds,” he whispered, placing his glass down on the bench beside me.

I drew in a shaky breath, and watched him leave, waiting thirty long seconds before following the trail of his familiar cologne.

As soon as I pushed open the door to the photocopy room, Grayson pulled me inside and pressed me up against it, engulfing my lips with his. I circled my arms around his neck and pulled him closer, but nothing was close enough. His tongue danced with mine as his hands rummaged over my silky top, grasping my breasts.

“Do you have to go to drinks?” he panted, before returning his mouth to my neck.

“Yes,” I replied, breathing heavily. “I promised I would.”

He took my face in both hands and pressed our foreheads together. “I want to bury myself inside you, Josie. Don’t make me wait. I have no patience.”

I chuckled and pushed him away so I could catch my breath. “I can see that.”

“I’ll have a car waiting at 6pm,” he stated firmly, before leaving me to frantically fix my dishevelled appearance as he rushed out of the room. Jesus Christ. That was hot.
