He smiled tightly and quickly changed the subject. “So, what’s number four?”

“Gondola ride at The Venetian.”

“Of course,” he muttered, rolling his eyes.

I dropped my gaze as my cheeks heated. “Well, I’d prefer to go to Venice, but I need to save a shit load more money first.”

“I’m sorry, that was rude of me. If you want to go on a gondola ride, I’ll take you. In fact, it’s not too far from here.”

The corner of my mouth quirked up. “Will you pretend to be my lover and serenade me with Italian love songs?”

He shook his head with a laugh before taking off down the Strip. We crossed the road again and headed directly to The Venetian, but when I saw the length of the queue for the ride, I groaned. “Shit,” I mumbled under my breath.

Grayson didn’t seem deterred at all. He marched straight past the waiting customers and spoke to the man at the front taking tickets. I was about to tell him not to worry, when the same man escorted us onto our own private gondola.

“What did you say to that guy?” I asked, glancing back at the disgruntled customers glaring at us from the water’s edge.

He shrugged. “I just paid him for the small favour.”

“You didn’t have to do that.”

Grayson climbed into the boat and held out his hand. As he guided me down, he whispered, “We just need to pretend like we’re newlyweds.”

I let out an embarrassing snort and Grayson quickly hushed me. He sunk into the seat and lifted his arm, inviting me in, so without hesitation, I slotted myself into his side. His expensive cologne ignited my senses, and I found myself leaning in for more. Grayson’s jaw twitched and I quickly redirected my attention to the water as our gondola began to move.

“Does this mean you’ll be serenading me now?” I asked, hiding the obvious heat in my cheeks.

Grayson laughed and wiped his hand down his face. “Trust me, you do not want to hear me sing.”

As we floated through the amazing shopping mall, Grayson asked about the next item on my list.

I shifted out from under his arm and faced him with a smile. “The Stratosphere.”

“The Stratosphere?” he moaned. “What exactly do you want to do there?”

“Enjoy the amazing lookout over the city, of course.”

Grayson looked relieved.

I grinned cheekily. “And the Sky Jump?”

His face dropped and turned a shade of grey. “No. Really?”

“Don’t like heights?”

“No, not exactly,” he uttered, pretending to watch the scenery glide by.

I nudged him playfully. “Come on, do it with me. It’ll be fun.”

He spun back with round eyes. “That is not what I call fun.”

“Hmm, figures.” I folded my arms across my chest.

Grayson tapered his gaze. “What does?”

“You don’t seem like the type to leave your comfort zone.”

“My comfort zone?” He snorted. “You don’t even know me.”
