“Such a wuss. Okay, let’s do ten reps of one-hundred yards to start off.”

I nod in response and we both start our sets. My mind is barely on swimming as it conjures up dirty flashbacks of what Gavril just did to me less than thirty minutes ago. It’s a terrible idea for me to go out tonight to a bar when he’s going to be there. I won’t be able to focus on anything but the way it felt to be at his mercy earlier, treated no better than a dog, and how much I loved it.

“I can’t believewe’re going out with teachers. It’s a little weird, isn’t it?” I ask, hoping that somehow I can convince my friends to back out.

“You realize one of those teachers is my husband, right?”

I sigh heavily. “Yeah, but the other two aren’t. Not to mention, one of them won’t stop harassing Adrianna.”

“If he’s inappropriate, I won’t hesitate to call him out with Oak there to back me up,” Eva says, as she applies a small amount of lipstick whilst sitting in front of the mirror.

“You have such an unfair advantage,” Adrianna moans. “I wish there was a way for me to get Coach off my back for good.”

“Sleep with him would be the most effective way,” I say.

Adrianna just glares at me in silence as she pulls up her dress and fastens it at the front.

I hold my hands up. “Sorry, I know you don’t want to, but the fact is that man will never stop pursuing you until he gets what he wants.”

She makes an irritated sound and her shoulders slump. “I know.”

I’m actually a little surprised that she admits it, since Adrianna is nothing if not stubborn. I think she may have met her match with Coach Daniels, though. They’re both stubborn and determined, and I fear it’s only going to end in tears.

“Sorry to say it how it is,” I say, walking over to her and wrapping an arm around her. “It’s just that man is as stubborn as a mule.”

“Tell me about it.” Adrianna glances at Eva. “I haven’t asked up to now, but do you think there’s anything Oak would do about it?”

Her lips purse together. “I’ve already asked him a couple of weeks ago and he said he’d talk to him.” She shakes her head. “It’s difficult because they’re close friends.”

Adrianna rolls her eyes. “I guess I’m going to have to find a way to use it to my advantage.”

“Use what? Coach’s attention?” Eva asks.

Adrianna nods. “Don’t worry. I’ve got a plan.” She looks determined as she fixes her hair in the mirror. “By the time I’m through with him, he’ll wish he never messed with a Vasquez.”

“Oh no, don’t tell me you’re getting your family to carry out a hit on him,” I say, as I know how ruthless they can be.

“No, nothing that drastic.” She laughs. “He’s annoying as hell, but I wouldn’t go so far as to say I want him dead.” She pauses. “Yet.”

Eva laughs. “Maybe you’ll change your mind by the end of the year.”

“Maybe,” Adrianna says, grabbing her clutch off the dressing table. “Are you three ready? The sooner we get this over with, the better.”

I tend to agree, as I fear the only person who’s actually going to enjoy tonight is Eva. After what Nitkin did to me earlier, I can hardly stand the thought of facing him.

“How are we getting to town?”

“Oak is driving us.”

I swallow hard. “Just the three of us, right?”

Her brow arches. “Yeah, Archer and Gav are meeting us there.”

Gav.

I feel a little jealous she’s on such a casual first name basis with him, which is ridiculous since Eva is more than spoken for. She’s married, for fuck’s sake.
