EVELYN

After finally taking a shower, I head down the stairs to meet Raoul for breakfast in the dining room. He left me to take a shower and change in his own room, after he ensured we both started the day by coming again.

He’s waiting for me at the table, looking dangerously handsome in another one of his tailored suits.

“Good morning, Miss Lane.” His housekeeper smiles at me warmly as I take a seat in the space that’s been set up beside him. The table is intimidatingly large, I think if I’d been placed at the other end of it I would have to shout for him to hear me.

“Morning.” I smile back at her, feeling Raoul's eyes on me as I open up the napkin to place on my lap.

“What would you like for breakfast? I’m sure Wendy here can make you whatever you want,” he offers, peering over the rim of his coffee cup before he takes a sip.

Jesus, the man can’t even drink coffee without looking punishing.

“Pancakes?” I look up at her hopefully. Last thing I want to do is push my luck on my first morning here by being a nuisance, but I am starving.

“Of course, I’ll get right on it.” She smiles cheerily before making her way out.

“So, how is this supposed to work?” I pluck up the courage to ask once we’re alone again.

“Do you have any appointments at the studio today?” Raoul diverts my question, and suddenly it occurs to me that he must have been doing some research to know where I’d be when he came for me yesterday and to have found Fabian's video.

If he’d found something that even I didn't know about, he must have done a thorough job of it.

“Not until tomorrow afternoon,” I answer, helping myself to some juice from the table.

“Good, I’ll have Ludo accompany you on your shopping trip today,” he informs me.

“I don’t have a shopping trip planned.” I look back at him, confused.

“I arranged it last night on my way back from the hospital, you need things here now that it’s agreed you’ll be staying a while. I’ll have somebody collect your things from Fabian's place over the next few days.” Sliding his hand into his suit jacket, he pulls out his wallet and then places a credit card on the table beside my glass.

“That’s not necessary.” I shake my head.

“It’s absolutely necessary,” Raoul disagrees with me, that stern look that never fails to make my stomach flip returning to his face again.

“I don’t want you wearing anything he touched you in,” he admits with a scowl on his lips. “And I should be the one to compensate for that. My sister uses a personal shopper. He will be here in an hour to assist you.”

“You think I need a personal shopper?” I act offended, teasing Raoul used to be my favorite thing to do when we were younger.

“No, but I want you to have the best, and I don’t believe that you will use my offer to its full potential unless you take someone who is under my authority with you.”

“I thought I was under your authority now.” I roll my eyes and take another sip of my juice.

“Don’t do that,” he warns.

“Do what?” I stare back at him innocently.

“Roll your eyes at me like that. It’s the kind of shit that will get you punished.”

“Punished?” I try my best to make the word sound seductive, despite having some apprehension over what he means by it. A threat from a Burlusconi should never be taken lightly.

“Yes, punished.”

Standing up from the table, he leans over me and rests his mouth against my ear.

“Nothing would please me more than folding your body over this table and thrashing your hot little ass until it welts…”
