Twenty Nine

RAOUL

“Did you ever have any pets as a kid?” Evelyn looks at me dreamily after I come back to the bedroom. I’ve just taken a shower after my morning run and I’m feeling confident. Speaking to Evelyn last night about my plan actually helped me get a decent night's sleep. I smile back at her as I put my pants on, hating the fact that I have to leave her in bed this morning.

“That's a random question.” I stare back at her curiously, pulling on a fresh shirt.

“Just wondering, that’s all.” She rolls on to her front, resting her chin in her hands, and making me want to sink my teeth into her hot little ass when the sheet slides off it.

“My father wouldn’t allow it, he didn’t want us to attach ourselves to anything,” I explain, starting to wonder how I never saw him for who he really is. The man’s always been cold.

I slide my belt through its buckle and step closer to her, and her face being directly in line with my cock is too much of a temptation.

“You want to get a pet, princess?” I crouch down in front of her and flick the end of her nose with my finger.

“Well, I was thinking perhaps we should have a trial run before we had a child.” The way she smiles back sarcastically just begs for me to fill her tight little pussy up with cum one more time before I leave.

“You know, I did bring home a dog once,” I recall, distracting myself from those thoughts. I need to have my head on straight today, plans need to be in place in case all this fucks up.

“What happened?” Evelyn sits up to straighten my tie for me.

“It was just some mutt I found injured by the swamp, it must have been hit on the freeway and crawled itself to safety. I carried it home and tried to fix it up.”

“You never told me.” She smiles back at me sadly.

“I was going to, I wanted to get it well again first. It wasn’t long after your father had died and I didn't want you to get attached to something that could be taken away from you,” I explain, remembering that I would have done anything back then to get a smile out of her. I still would.

“It was a good job I didn’t though. My father shot it before I had the chance to make it well again.” I recall the moment he came out to the shed and put a bullet in the animal right in front of me. I was only eleven and I remember how hard it was to act brave.

“If you want a pet, I will get you one.” I change the subject, standing up straight, and reaching for my jacket.

“I don’t want a pet, I was just wondering what things were like for you as a child,” she says softly, getting out of bed and standing up in front of me, she’s completely naked and so perfect that I struggle to believe she wants to belong to me.

“I only ever felt like a child when I was spending time with you,” I admit, watching how the smile on her face turns into a pitiful one. “I’ve been prepped to lead this family for as far back as I can remember, it’s time I start doing it.” I kiss her sweet little mouth goodbye, before pulling away from her and heading down to find my driver.

We’re driving toward the city when a message from an unknown number comes up on the screen, and the video attached with it turns my stomach when I open it.

This is another one of Fabian’s home movies, only this time I’ve got a bird's eye view of her taking his cock in her mouth, working him through her fist, and sucking him between her lips. I almost crush the thing in my hand out of frustration.

Your dirty whore’s show goes live at 12pm.

The blood beneath my skin boils, and when a message follows with a zip code, I instantly bring it up in the map app. The location is over half an hour away and it’s already ten minutes past eleven.

“Change of plan,” I call out the zip code to my driver. There isn’t time to go back to the house and pick up Niko, I’m going to have to do this alone. Fabian Morretti isn’t anything I can’t handle, it’s the fact I’m going to have to break the promise I made Evelyn that’s my concern. Because there is no way I can let the man continue to live after this.

The car spins around at the first opportunity, and as we start heading in the new direction, I stretch my hands out on my knees and remind myself to breathe. I can’t seem to catch a break at the moment, it’s just one fucked up problem after another. And Fabian’s picked the wrong guy at the wrong time to fuck with.

The Chinese restaurant we pull up outside looks abandoned, and I check my gun is fully loaded before I get out of the car.

“Should I come with you, sir?” my driver asks.

“No, keep the engine running. I intend for my visit to be short.”

I’ve thought about this on the ride over, Fabian’s death won’t be on Evelyn’s conscience. It’s entirely on my own. Fabian Moretti will not die today because he threatened Evelyn. He will die because he thought he could threaten me.

I check my surroundings before I head down the alley that leads to the back of the building. The whole street is eerily quiet, none of the surrounding shops are open and all the windows and doors are boarded up, so I keep my gun in my hand and my wits about me. When I spot the back exit door slightly open, I enter cautiously. The industrial kitchen I step into is dark and filthy, and when a rat scuttles across my foot I almost shoot at the damn thing. Still, I manage to keep focused as I step further inside to seek out my target.

“You came.” Fabian steps out of the darkness a few feet away from me, and doesn’t seem at all bothered by the gun I now have pointed at him. He’s unarmed, which makes no sense and unnerves me.

“Of course, I fucking came you piece of—” Something sharp and cold pierces my neck from behind me, and as I whip my body around to see where it came from, I feel my muscles start to weaken. My gun slips out of my hand when my grip gives up, and my whole body feels heavy. I don’t feel the pain I should when I crash to the floor, and my vision starts to blur as I try focusing on the face that’s peering over me. It can’t be…

“Welcome to hell.” Their voice sounds mechanical, like it’s been slowed down. I try all I can to fight, but my body isn’t hearing the messages from my brain.
