If the kid wants in this club, he’s just failed his first fucking test.

“This ain't the kid's fault, Troj,” Thorne steps up beside me, resting a hand on my shoulder to try and calm me. I fling him off. I don’t want to calm down. I wanna use all the rage that’s feeding my veins to take down the five fuckers who thought they could hurt my girl.

My anger is also the only thing distracting me from thinking about her lying in that hospital, bleeding. I can’t face up to that yet.

“What’s everyone doing sitting around? We should be out looking for the fuckers that did this.” I turn to Brax. “Would you be sitting there if this had been Grace?”

He doesn’t respond, just looks back at me with the same pathetic, pitiful look that everyone else is throwing in my direction.

“How about you?” I look to Nyx next. “If that was Ella who just had five men force their dicks on her, would you be here?” He raises up on his feet, looking like he’s gonna come at me, but his wife grabs his arm and forces him to sit back down.

He doesn’t take his eyes off me though, his jaw tensing tight.

“You should be at the hospital with Shaniya,” Brax gets off his stool and comes toward me.

“Where’s Prez and Jessie?”

Tac shakes a warning at Brax, and I can't decide which one of them I’m gonna put my fist through first.

“Downstairs,” Brax speaks up.

“Fuck’s sake.” Tac smooths his hands over his bald head and walks over to the bar. “What did we agree on?” he slams his hand down and yells at Brax.

“Why?” I ignore the bitch fit Tac’s having and focus on the only one who’s giving me answers.

“We got Alteo. Jessie’s talking to him,” he tells me, still unable to look me in the eye.

I know why, he’s imagining how he’d be feeling if it was Grace instead of Shaniya, and he can’t fucking stand it.

Jessie talking in his basement only means one thing.

Pain, suffering, and answers. I need all three.

“I’m going down there.” I head for the door and when Nyx and Thorne try to stop me, Skid stands up from the corner where he’s been sitting in silence.

“Let him go,” he growls at them, he’s the only person in the fucking room who understands how I’m feeling. He knows how much I need this, and Nyx and Thorne both move to step out of my way.

I feel my heart thumping as I rush down the stairs into Jessie’s basement, it’s far too silent in there for my liking, and when I burst through the door and see the man hanging from the ceiling by his wrists, I charge right at him.

“Troj, No.” Prez gets to me before I get there.

“Do you know what those fuckers did to her?” I scream at him, my eyes focused on Alteo. I’m going to kill him.

“They…” I blow out a breath because I can’t say the words, not when a vision of her frail and broken in my arms comes into my head.

“They…” I try again, and when pure fucking heartache overrides my anger, I end up weeping like a fucking pussy right in front of my Prez and best friend.

Prez instantly wraps his arms around me, clutching at the back of my head.

“I know,” he whispers tight into my ear, his hand crushing the back of my head tight against his shoulder. “And we’re gonna make ‘em pay. But first, we need this one to talk so we make sure get ‘em all.”

He’s right, of course, he’s right. But him hanging in front of me with all the equipment Jessie’s got in this room. I’m finding it hard not to unleash fuckin’ havoc.

“Sayin' much?” I pull back, and sniff back more tears threatening to weaken me. Jessie’s got his hair tied back, and he’s changed into a black tank top. That look he’s wearing on his face only ever comes when he’s about to create agony.

“We only just got started,” he tells me as he picks up the blow torch from the table and fires it up.

Alteo fidgets uncomfortably, but knowing Jessie would have been the one to tie the ropes around his wrists I’m confident they won’t be coming loose.
