“Is everything okay?” Taylor calls from the bedroom. I take a deep breath and drag my hand through my hair.
“Be right out,” I shout, taking one last look in the mirror before opening the door.

I reach down for my boxer shorts and pull them on. “I’m sure. Come to bed.”
I climb into bed and watch her as she hesitates before slowly sliding under the comforter. I’m probably giving her mixed signals. I’ve told her tonight is all I can give her, but then I demand she sleeps in the bed with me. If tonight is all we can have, though, I want to make the most of it.
“How are you feeling?” I ask, rolling onto my side and propping my head up on my elbow so I can look at her.
She mirrors my stance and smiles. “Honestly?” I nod. “I’m feeling pretty good.”
I chuckle and hold her gaze. “Good. I’m glad I could put a smile on your face.”
“You did more than that.”
“We should get some sleep,” I tell her as she lets out a yawn. I roll over and turn off the light, plunging the room into darkness. When my eyes adjust, I turn onto my side to find her watching me.
“Are things going to be weird between us now?” she asks quietly.
“There’s no reason they should be,” I tell her, despite thinking the same thing in the bathroom. “We’re both consenting adults who happen to have had incredible sex.”
She smiles. “You thought it was incredible?”
“Yes. You didn’t?”
“No! I did! It was the best I’ve ever…” She trails off and giggles.
I smile. “The best ever, hey?”
I reach across and tickle her waist. She laughs and squirms, rolling onto her back and away from my hands. I bring my body over hers and stare down at her as she catches her breath. She’s so fucking beautiful. I shouldn’t be doing this, but I can’t seem to stop myself.
“It’s still tonight, right?” I ask, my eyes dropping to her lips. She nods and reaches her hands up and around my neck, pulling my mouth to hers. I’m soon lost in her again, all thoughts of this being a bad idea chased away by having her in my arms.

Iwake up to someone banging on the apartment door, and it takes me a second to realize where I am. Taylor’s bed. She’s wrapped in my arms, her head on my chest, and our legs tangled together.
