“Me,” Ash says, moving closer to Wyatt and picking up a glass.

“Okay, so lick, shoot, suck,” Seb instructs, and Ashlyn bursts out laughing.

“It’s not my first time, Seb.”

He rolls his eyes. “Why doesn’t that surprise me?”

He pushes the saltshaker across the bar and she sprinkles some onto her hand. After licking the salt, she drinks down the tequila and snatches up the lime, sucking the juice into her mouth.

“Taylor! You’re up,” she cries, banging the glass down onto the bar.

I laugh. “Okay.”

When I’ve done my shot, Wyatt, Ivy, and Seb drink down theirs before Seb sets them up again. He’s just finished when the music stops.

“Ten seconds,” the DJ shouts over the noise of the crowd.

The entire bar begins to count down from ten, and Seb pushes a shot of tequila across the bar to me, Ash, Ivy, and Wyatt. We each shake some salt onto the back of our hands, and as the countdown gets to zero, we lick the salt and swallow the clear liquid. I squeeze my eyes closed and shake my head as the liquid burns my throat.

“Happy New Year!” Ash cries as she throws her arms around my neck and hugs me tightly.

“Happy New Year,” I tell her, hugging her back.

She makes her way around everyone, hugging them as she wishes them a happy New Year. I follow her lead, and when I reach Seb at the end of the bar, he slides his arms around my waist and pulls me gently against him.

“Happy New Year, Taylor,” he whispers in my ear, kissing me softly on my cheek.

“Happy New Year.”

“Quick. Come with me.”

He steps out of our embrace and laces his fingers with mine, pulling me away from the bar and toward the security door and his office. I glance over my shoulder, but everyone is celebrating, and they don’t notice us slipping away. When we reach his office, he opens the door and guides me inside. Closing the door, he backs me up against it, his hands resting on the wood on either side of my head.

“What are you doing?” I ask, my voice breathless and my heart racing at being this close to him.

“Kissing you at midnight.”

He lowers his head and brushes his lips with mine. Even though I know I shouldn’t, I wind my arms around his neck and kiss him back. His tongue pushes into my mouth, and I open up to him, moaning as his hands go under my ass and he picks me up. I can feel his erection pushing against me, and I roll my hips, eliciting a groan from him. My fingers wind into his hair, and I leave them there as he pulls out of the kiss and rests his forehead on mine, both of us out of breath.

“Fuck. I wish I didn’t have to go back to the bar and I could take you upstairs,” he mutters. He kisses me again before lowering me to the ground. “I’ll come up when we close.”

I don’t say anything, and he uses his finger to tilt my chin so I’m looking at him.

“Are you okay?” I nod, not wanting to ask him what’s happening between us when he needs to get back to the bar. He frowns. “Are you sure?”

“I’m sure.” I take his hand. “Come on. We’re going to be missed.”

He holds my gaze, and I wonder if he can tell I’m full of shit. After a few seconds, he reaches behind me and opens the door. When we get back into Eden, he squeezes my hand before dropping it and heading back to the bar. Spotting Ashlyn and Ivy waiting in line for a drink, I head over.

“Hey, where is everyone?”

Ashlyn smiles knowingly. “Where did you disappear to?” she asks, ignoring my question.

“Just the bathroom,” I lie.

Her eyebrows rise, and she looks over to where Seb is. “Funny that both youandSeb needed to use the bathroom at the same time.” I roll my eyes. “Did you talk to him?”

“No. He had to get back to the bar. He’s coming over later.”
