“I wanted something that was just for me.”

“What do you mean?”

“I love Wyatt. He’s my best friend, but being an identical twin means you sometimes lose yourself. People tend to only see one person. When I got to eighteen, I wanted people to seeme. The tattoos did that.”

I frown. “I’m sorry you felt like that.”

He sits up and reaches for me, pulling me into his lap. My legs straddle his, and he wraps his arms around me.

“Don’t be sorry. I had the best childhood, and most of the time I loved being a twin.” He laughs. “We hada lotof fun. I think getting the tattoo was just me telling people I was my own person.”

“But you’re covered in ink, Seb. How long did you feel that way?”

He smiles. “I didn’t get the rest of my tattoos because of that.”

“Why, then?”

“I got hooked. Plus, the girls in college loved them.” He chuckles and tickles my side.

I giggle and push his hands away. “So, you got them because it made you look hot?”

He wriggles his eyebrows. “Did it work?”

I roll my eyes and wind my arms around his neck. “I’d say so, although you’re the first guy I’ve dated with ink.”

He grins. “Really?” I nod. “Was there anyone special back in Pittsburgh?”

“I thought there was, but it turns out he was hung up on his ex. Not that I knew until he left.”

He presses his lips to mine, kissing me softly. “I’m sorry he hurt you, but I’m not sorry it led you to me. I know it took me a while to get my head out of my ass after you told me how you felt, but that guy must have been an idiot to walk away from you.”

My cheeks heat at his words, and I drop my eyes.

“You never really said what made you change your mind about us.”

He blows out a breath. “It was Sophie.”

I pull my eyebrows together in a frown. “What do you mean?”

“Cade asked me to go and sit with her the day before the shower. She was sick and he needed to do a house call. He didn’t want to leave her on her own.” He pauses and his fingers trace up and down my spine. “She asked me what was going on with us.” He laughs. “You know, we must have been terrible at keeping our feelings hidden when we were together. I think pretty much everyone saw something between us, although she saw us kissing at my parents’ place at Christmas.”

I smile. “Ash saw us kissing in Eden on Christmas Eve.”

“She did?” I nod, and he laughs. “I guess we weren’t exactly discreet either time, but I couldn’t help myself and it’s not like we were doing anything wrong.”

“What did Sophie say?”

“That love is scary, but the right person will make you want to take risks.” He strokes his fingers across my cheek. “She was right.”

“It sounds like I owe her.”

“I’d have come to the same conclusion. It might have taken me a little longer, that’s all.”

He kisses me again before maneuvering me off his lap and lying down, pulling me down to lie with him.

“Does Sophie know what happened before… when you got hurt? I know Paisley said you two are good friends.”

“No, she doesn’t,” he whispers.
