“Fuck yes I did. Just making sure they know I’m your mate too.”

I’m about to call them over, feeling their hormones through our bonds, but Elias stops me.

“We will have plenty of time to connect. First, we find a way to keep you.”

Elias sets me down on my feet. I stand on my own, and he pulls me against him, kissing me deeply. He conjures two mirrors before turning me around to show off my back.

It’s gorgeous. There’s a swirling tattoo that looks like the stars across my back. It weaves around my spine from top to bottom. It’s gorgeous and I can instinctively feel the connection to Elias through it.

“Is that your mark?” I ask, almost breathless from wonder.

He chuckles softly before leaning in to kiss the center along my spine.

“Yes. You’re mine now, Ghosty. Let’s find a way to keep you here.”

Micaela

10:00 p.m.

Elias is chanting a spell while I lay on a table in the middle of the room. It’s in a language I don’t understand and am pretty sure I could never learn.

I can feel the power in the air and I’m extremely impressed. My warlock mate is so fucking sexy. After this I’m going to peel the clothes back off him and ride him like a horse.

“Ghosty, your hormones are distracting,” Elias chastises but there’s no real heat in his tone. I think he actually likes it but I rein it in nonetheless.

My other mates are staying against the wall on the side of the warehouse like Elias instructed. They’re trying to play it cool but I can tell they’re worried. They already care about me so much. Ghost girl for the win.

I feel a tingling sensation break out across my skin. It starts at my fingertips but quickly moves everywhere. It’s not unpleasant at first but slowly the pins and needles get sharper, until it feels like my entire body is being continuously stabbed.

I let out a whimper of pain.

“What the fuck is going on?” Silas demands.

“Is she supposed to feel like this?” Oz asks, he sounds furious.

I can’t focus on anything but the excruciating pain across my body.

“I have no idea. I’ve never done this before. Can you hold on Micaela? I’m almost at the end.”

I want to scream no, but this could be my ticket to being a real girl.

“Yes!” Speaking opens the flood gates and I can’t keep the pain inside any longer. My throat goes raw from screaming at the top of my lungs.

If the neighborhood didn’t think this place was haunted, they do now.

Tears are pouring down my cheeks but I hold on as long as I can. I couldn’t move if I wanted to but if I begged Elias to stop I’m sure he would.

I just met him and yet I know he would take care of me.

Finally, the pain starts to lessen. My body finally begins to relax and I can breathe again.

My eyes open to only see darkness. As it clears, the world is disorienting. Voices echo in my ears.

“Did it work?” Silas asks.

“I… don’t know. Micaela do you feel different?” Elias asks.
