“She’s going to the professional side of the hospital, to the women’s healthcare clinic.”
Esteban sits back in his chair, his hand covering the smile growing on his face. Showing joy in front of his men would be a weakness. “Is she with child?”
“That’s my guess, yes. It’s been difficult to hack into medical records. Still, from what I’ve observed of Maceo and his shopping habits, I’m confident with this theory.”
“What did he buy?” Esteban asks, barely containing his enthusiasm.
“After pressuring the sales clerk, we learned he bought one of every baby book in a local bookstore downtown Fort Collins.”
Esteban waves him away hastily, needing the man gone so he can enjoy the revelation in private.
When he’s finally alone, he beams off into the horizon. His empire is secure for generations to come. Josefina being pregnant gives him much more of an advantage. He ponders all the ways he can use this pregnancy to his benefit. When the idea comes to him, he picks up his cell to put his plan into action.
Soon he’ll have everything he wants.
