“No, you guys need it more. I’ve got a group of men helping me. I’ll sleep better knowing you’re all fine too.”

Starlight sniffles, dropping the bag to give me another tight hug. “You’re too precious. But you’re taking some of this.”

She bends over, scooping out a heaping stack of bills before shoving it into my bucket purse. “You have my number. You call if you need anything.”

“Be safe.”

“You too.” She kisses me on the cheek before running out the back door with the other dancers and the bag of money. I pray Starlight can get the hell out of town before Benny comes after her.

A gentle hand cups my elbow as Gauge escorts me outside to a dazzling green Harley.

My fingers brush over the custom paint job. “It’s the same color as your eyes,” I muse aloud.

“Been staring at my eyes?” he teases as he puts his helmet on my head.

“They’re hard to ignore,” I confess.

My God, Opal! Will you stop saying everything that pops into your head?!

Gauge’s crooked grin grows cocky. “Nothing compared to the fresh ice-blue waters you’re sporting.” He throws his leg over the seat of his bike. “Climb on, Gorgeous. I’m itching to have your arms and legs wrapped around me.”

His words send an instant gush of heat between my legs. Why does a perfect stranger have such an effect on me? Carefully, I climb behind him, unsure where to sit or what to hold on to.

“Fuck, you smell good,” Gauge confesses in a rough voice.

His words stir up delicious desires, making me crave this man more than I should.

Gauge swings his arm behind me, pulling me flush against his back. Shocked, I gasp.

“Hold on to me. The tighter, the better.”

Why does everything this man says sound hot? Maybe it’s me and my wanton mind.

Following his instructions, I wrap my arms around his thick torso, clasping my hands together across his toned abdomen. I wonder what it would feel like to slide my hands under his shirt, over the panels of his stomach? My guess is it would feel like washboard heaven.

Control your hormones, Opal!

“Where to, Gorgeous?”

Quickly, I rattle off my address and directions. Gauge nods, starting the bike. It’s a lot louder than I expected, and I jump with surprise.

He chuckles before he pulls away from the club and into a future that holds more promise than I dare to dream for.

CHAPTERFIVE

GAUGE

Holy shit!I just claimed a stripper as my old woman.

She doesn’t know that yet. Neither do any of my brothers.Meh, maybe Atlas does, but the rest of the guys probably think I picked up a new club bunny.

News flash—this girl is too good to be anyone’s hookup. She’s fucking sunshine and rainbows in female form. There’ll be no sharing her with anyone.

This isn’t me—I don’t do relationships. They’re messy, emotionally draining, and typically end in heartache. My brothers feel the same way. We’re men who like casual hookups, but where some of my brothers are one-and-done, I have no problem returning to a willing woman who knows the drill.

I didn’t ask for any of this, and I sure as hell wasn’t looking to partner up.

But Opal…Fuuuck. It was like the devil on my shoulder did a jig, saying, “She’s the one.”
