That was the route he chose, letting the sense of peace wash over him. By the time he reached the top of the wall he felt achy, sweaty, and raring to tackle the next wall.

“You want to keep going?” Tripp called out, prompting him to look over at him and Riley, who was just pulling himself over the edge. Looked like they’d all decided on the hard way then. Tripp’s hair was darker than when they’d started, sweat dampened and clinging to his forehead. Riley’s eyes were brighter, and he looked as eager as Tripp did.

“I’m planning to.”

“Then let’s do this,” Riley yelled, the trio repelling down the wall with little bounces.

Up a wall. Down a wall. Then further down, into the canyon, where sure as shit, there was a picnic basket awaiting them.

“This is my cue to take off,” Riley said as Tripp spread out the picnic blanket.

“You really don’t have to, there’s plenty of…” Tripp began. Zakk nearly sprained an ankle trying to get to him so he could slap a hand over Tripp’s mouth to silence him. The outraged squawking and waving around left Zakk giggling.

“I take it you want me to yourself.”

“What gave you that idea?” Zakk murmured, not waiting for Tripp’s reply before kissing him. Pawing at one another meant a rapid descent to the cloth covered ground. Hands groped, slid beneath heat warmed clothing, pinched, and stroked, nails slowly raking down backs and across shoulders. They made out like horny, eager teenagers. The pop of a broken seam and cloth stretching doing little to slow them down.

For once it wasn’t about fucking, though they touched each other everywhere, breathing moans and gasps down one another’s throats ‘til Zakk felt so lightheaded and out of control he had to pull back, just so he could stroke Tripp’s face.

“I’m sorry,” Zakk whispered.

“Huh?”

He could see the confusion on Tripp’s face, but this wasn’t the time for explaining or the conversation that would come along with it, so he kissed him silent and let a wave of passion carry them away again.

It felt so good to just lie there, all wrapped up in one another

“We should eat.”

“Yeah,” Zakk breathed, not that he made a shred of effort to change positions. He was staring past Tripp’s shoulder, out over the stone to where the lizards played.

“But you’re not going to move, are you?”

“Nope.”

“Were you serious about coming back here again?”

“Yeah. But not as a band. I think we should come, recharge, and spend some alone time together.”

“You know that some people wouldn’t consider this to be the right kind of place for a romantic getaway?

“I’m aware.”

“But you don’t care.”

“Now you’re catching on.”

Tripp sat up a little and lazily traced a pattern up his arm.

“We really should eat,” Tripp told him. “Isn’t this volleyball night?”

“Only if we drag ourselves onto the sand to play.”

“Sounds to me like you don’t want to.”

“Debating.”

Tripp chuckled and stretched, trying to reach the picnic basket, only to wiggle his fingers in the air, several inches from his target. It might have had something to do with the fact that Zakk was clinging to him like a koala with no intent of letting go.
