“Shit, I’d kill to find a good woman. It’s either that or my mom’s gonna set Agony and me up one day. That’ll be a total disaster.”

I laugh at what he’s saying, and my stomach starts to growl. It’s not like I didn’t get any good sleep last night, so maybe I should just stay up and grab some grub while I’m at it. “I’m sure you’ll find someone one day, man. I’m gonna head downstairs and get some breakfast. Catch up with you later?”

Fury nods, “Yeah, man. Sounds good.”

I head down the stairwell, and the bar was completely empty a few minutes ago, but now Breaker’s sitting at the bar with what looks like a whiskey on the rocks. “You good, Prez?”

“It’s five o’clock somewhere, brother,” Breaker tells me as he takes a sip of his drink.

It’s barely six in the morning, and he’s already turning to the bottle. I sit down at one of the open seats at the bar. “What’s goin’ on with you, man?” Breaker’s been through a lot of shit since his girlfriend was the rat responsible for getting our dealers popped. He trusted that woman, and she betrayed him. I don’t know if he’ll ever be the same after all the shit he’s been through.

“Nothin’, dude.”

It’s bullshit. It’s all bullshit. Then again, he’s the one who shot her in the face after the facts were laid out. Breaker’s never been violent with a woman, but he did what he would’ve done if a man was in her shoes. What he did would fuck with any man.

“C’mon, it’s time for church,” Breaker mutters and then walks downstairs.

I take the liberty of banging on everyone’s doors and getting them downstairs. I call Hammer and let him know we’re having church, and I’m sure Breaker’s already getting in contact with Inc. Now, at least, he has the pleasure of having a time difference. It’s later for his ass, so he got to sleep in a bit. After about ten minutes, everyone’s downstairs, sitting in church, minus Archer since he’s a prospect.

“I know it’s early as fuck, but I wanted to get this shit outta the way. You all know shit has been tense since we found out Celia was the rat, feeding information to the 17. Well, they’ve made it known on the streets they’re coming for us since our club’s responsible for her death.”

“It was only a matter of time before they did something,” Chains speaks up, and everyone nods in agreement with him.

“Whatever those fuckers try to do, we’ll be ready for them,” Ice, Breaker’s father and the oldest member of the club, speaks up.

“I appreciate your confidence on the matter, but regardless, this is a threat we need to take seriously,” Breaker comments.

Almost everyone in the room looks over to Ops, whose ol’ lady is part of the Castro cartel. The 17 are associated with cartels, so they might think we have a loophole, but I don’t think we have one. I’m pretty sure Mabel was ostracized for being with Ops.

“Can your girl do anything about this, man?” Agony asks Ops.

Ops shakes his head, “No. Mabel was disowned and pretty much told she was on her own, that she wasn’t a Castro anymore.”

“Her father still bitter about the fact she didn’t marry the guy he arranged a marriage with?” I question with amusement in my tone.

Ops nods, “Yeah, I’d say so. He’s not too happy that my girl has a mind of her own.”

“We’ll need to deal with this threat ourselves, and I don’t think we should involve any of our allies until we have to,” Chains speaks up, then looks at Hammer, who’s privy to being in church since he’s a regent for the club.

“Chains is right. I’ll take some time to think of our next course of action. Until then, be prepared. Be cautious,” Breaker says and slams the gavel on the table.

We all leave church knowing war can be seen on the horizon. I just hope we’re prepared for whatever comes our way.

CHAPTERFIVE

Jada

I can’t describe how good it feels just to be outside in the fresh air. After taking a moment to look around the park, I realized this was exactly what I was looking for. Basically, I just want to spend some time away from all the bullshit that’s going on right now. It was really nice of Shiloh to get me out of the clubhouse for a while to give myself a chance to clear my head a bit. During this time, she’s looking at her phone. I glance over at her from the side.

Shiloh is so good for my brother. In addition to that, she’s one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen in my life, and that isn’t a little thing.

The first thing I thought when I heard about her being one of the clubwhores was that maybe there would be some flack, but if I’m honest with myself, I believe she’s the best decision that my brother could’ve made. I’m glad he stuck to his guns and took her on to be his woman.

Taking a deep breath and turning my head to look at the park again, I let out a sigh of relief.

“Girl, what are you even looking at?” Shiloh asks.

There’s nothing particular that’s happening right now. “Honestly, I’m just taking it all in and relaxing. It’s truly peaceful right now.”
