Page 32 of Reckless Conduct

She looks over to me, a smile breaking across her lips as her eyes meet mine. She looks back to her journal, cheeks blushing. “It, uh, it says you kiss me.” She closes her journal, setting it on the other side of her as she looks to the door.

“I can kiss other parts of you…” I wrap my arms around her waist, pulling her under me. She giggles as she looks up at me, I lower my head, placing my lips on her neck and trailing them down, sucking new marks onto her skin as I push her dress down to expose her lace-wrapped breasts. I lift my head, smiling down at her. “See?”

I lift myself off her, and she crawls on top of me, bare thighs straddling my naked waist. “What are you doing?” I rasp. My long fingers combing through her hair as she moves her lips over my chest, up my strong neck. Prints of her lipstick left behind in the mauve she has on.

“Marking you. Just as you’ve marked me,”she whispers across my skin, covering my chest with her own mark.

As soon as the words leave her mouth, I fucking know—I am done for.

“You better still be here whenI get back,” I say, buttoning up my white shirt. Callum peeks out of my closet, a navy-blue shirt in her hand. I raise my eyebrow at her in question.

“I think this shirt would really bring out your eyes. Oh, and this tie.” She smiles as she holds the dark green, blue, and purple tie up.

I glare at her. “I’m already dressed.” She juts her lip out, disappearing back into the closet I never gave her permission to go through. “You didn’t answer my question.”

She walks back out, falling onto my bed. “That’s because you didn’t ask a question, you made a suggestion.”

“A command,” I growl out, fastening my belt.

She shrugs. “I’ll be here, I guess. How long do you think you’ll be?”

I place both hands on either side of her legs, leaning into her face. “An hour, tops.” I kiss her neck.

“But it’s your family, right? Shouldn’t you want to spend the evening with them?” She closes her eyes, tilting her head to the side to give me better access.

“Sometimes it’s better not to know your family, Doll Face.” I push myself up away from her, grabbing my car keys and wallet.

I hear her unzip a bag, and looking over, I watch her take out class assignments and begin working on them. “So, you are a good student, just not for me?”

She nods, pressing keys on her calculator. “Just not for you, Mr. Boyd.”

I grin at her sass, pocketing my things. “Why is that?” I’ve wondered. Her record is impeccable. She makes straightA’s in all her classes but mine.

“Because government is stupid. And I don’t need it.”

“That’s fair, it is pretty useless if you never vote or don’t want to graduate high school,” I deadpan.

She shrugs. “I don’t care to vote. What’s the point?”

“To have a chance to make a difference.”

“Debatable.” She writes down the answer to a math question.

“You may change your mind in the future, Callum. You’ll probably wish you listened in my class then.”

She shrugs again, dismissing the subject. “Have a good dinner with your family, Lincoln.” She’s so cold when it comes to any talk of government and I don’t understand why, but I’ll figure it out. Soon. Very soon.

“I’ll see you later, Doll Face.”

“Don’t mind me, just gonna throw a party while you’re gone. Nothing crazy, just thousands of people.” She waves me away, and I grin, shaking my head as I walk out the door.

Myparents’house is fit for royalty. All thick gold tassels and deep red-and-gold accents. The filigree that is blaring in almost every fabric visible. The dining table is long, made of thick oak. Gold china and red silk napkins. Even the fucking silverware is gold.

“Sorry I’m late.” My stepbrother kisses my mother’s cheek, taking a seat beside me. Leaning over to me, he whispers, “You have a mark on your neck. Very classy.”
