“Hi. Nice evening, huh?”

His once confident stance turns a bit awkward as he fumbles to open the door behind him and maintain the conversation. “Yes, very nice.” I look at him expectantly, as he has a debate inside his head. He acts as if no one has ever made small talk with him before. “I’m Collins. I’ll be driving you tonight. Watch your head, Miss McFee.”

“Collins, please call me Angie,” I insist, as I duck my head into the backseat, finding comfort on the plush dark leather seats. My door is shut gently once my limbs are clear.

“You look beautiful. Stunning.”

The smooth, sultry voice dances in my ears. Warmth spreads from the tips of my toes, traveling up to ignite my cheeks.

I pivot in my seat, only to stare as my gaze meets his icy-blue crystalline pair.

“Graham,” I whisper.

“Angela.”

Heat rushes to the apex of my thighs as my name rolls off his lips. It seems to be a premeditated caress—strategically designed to throw me off my game.

“What’s going on?” My brain cannot keep up.

“Change of plans.”

Unexpectedly so. The date was arranged for Dominic, but now Graham is here in his place? My brain is having a hard time absorbing. “I don’t—”

Graham’s finger presses against my lips, and my heart stops, as well as my train of thought.

“I’ve been thinking about these lips since the elevator,” he says breathily. “I can’t seem to clear my head of thoughts of you. You probably have no clue how wound up you make me.”

My heart picks up rhythm, and I feel dizzy with need. He makes me want things I know I shouldn’t want. I need to focus. To not get swept away in the exciting world that is Graham Hoffman.

He gently pulls down on my bottom lip with his index finger. I exhale and fight the urge to give him a little bite.

“Tell me you want this,” he insists. “Tell me I’m not making this all up in my head. Deluding myself.”

He releases my lip, and my body mourns the loss of contact.

“I want this,” I admit with a nod. “What this is, I’m not quite sure.”

Graham’s body moves closer to me as his hands cup the back of my head. I lean into him, and he presses his lips slowly against mine. His lips are warm. Soft. He is gentle and respectful. It is the complete opposite of how I would have predicted our first kiss to be. Our tongues brush against each other’s, and I dig my fingers into his shoulders. I deepen the kiss. I don’t know what has come over me. I am never this forward. But then again, I’ve never had a reason to be.

He pulls back for just a second. His eyes look into my soul as he studies me—what he’s searching for I have no clue.

“So greedy.” His words come out raspy.

A faint taste of cinnamon is on my tongue. I lick my lips, earning a wicked look from Graham. I want more.

I moan. “You taste like candy.”

“You taste like sin.”

Graham grabs my waist and pulls me onto his lap. The confined space in the backseat forces us even closer. I am losing myself. Our lips are like magnets. My hands pull at his hair. I grind my ass into his groin, trying to find the delicious friction that I desperately need.

BOOM.

Flashes of light fill the sky. I pull back from Graham’s lips.

CRACK.

My body trembles from the sound of thunder.
