She nodded. “I pushed my classes for the deaf, started online college courses, and created my resume with detailed references from my town’s head librarian. I knew it would take a long time so I saved money and worked hard.” Meeting his eyes, she smiled. “Then I received the offer here.”
Nate adjusted her on his lap to hold more of her. “When I look at you, I see everything I’ve been searching for my entire life.” He hugged her firmly. “To me, you’reperfect. “If I told you how long I’ve been head over heels for your pretty self, you’d think I was a stalker or something. I’m not but I’ve really been insanely attracted to you from day one.”
Eyes wide, she asked, “Are you being serious?”
He sat her up and held her shoulders. “Listen, Zoe. I realize I’m stupidly handsome, funny, and charming…”

“I’m successful, have the most awesome kid on the planet, and own property. All these things make me quite the catch, I’m aware.”
“Nate, you’re laying it on thick again…”
“The point is, you’re a damn fine catch yourself. You’re pretty but all the things I love about you have nothing to do with your looks. I like how smart, kind, and interesting you are. I’ve never enjoyed talking to women other than my mom or sister until I met you. I think about you constantly and it makes me smile. Another first.”
“I’m glad you love me. I love you, too.” She tapped her chin with her finger and his smile was brilliant. “I’m pretty sure it was your humbleness and sincere modesty that drew me.”
He nodded seriously. “Whatever it takes.”
Adjusting their bodies, he pressed her to the bed and kissed her until she was shaking from head to toe.
Holding himself up, half his body stretched down the length of hers, she could feel so much of him and it was amazing.
His eyes held hers as he said, “Very soon, I’m going to make love to you until you pass out from the pleasure. I’m willing to wait until we get my horrible ex out of town first, but I thought I should give you advance warning.”

“You’ll need to take a couple of days off. I’ll send Mandy to Boulder for the weekend so we can act like freaks.”
Blushing brightly, she admitted, “I’m not sure what that involves but I’m willing to go with it.”
His smile was slow. “Miss Green, I’m going to contaminate your innocent brain witheverydirty thing.”
“A brain simply expands to hold new information.” Trailing her fingertips along his collarbone, she ignored her blush and whispered, “I have plenty of room for you to show me everything.”
Nate looked ready to start immediately.

After an hour of heavy petting and silliness, Nate turned off the lights, spooned the entire back of her body, and fell asleep in less than a minute. The steady rhythm of his breath against her hair quickly knocked Zoe out as well.
