I jump up so quickly, my chair goes flying backward and topples over to the floor.

"Tripp, you need to stay away from her. I'm only going to warn you once. Leave her alone!" I bark at him, and he puts his hands up in surrender right away. His entire face breaking out in a shit eating grin and I relax after a second and then groan when I realized I just proved his point.

"Okay, fine. I mean, It's not like I hate her guts or anything like that, she's-" Just as I'm about to admit that I maybe have a slight childish crush on the woman who makes me laugh, Nurse Lee comes bursting into my office.

"I'm so sorry, Dr. Dracos, I don't know what happened, but there's so many patients. They all came at once." She says in a panic.

"What? How. I was just out there, it was only one. I say and rush around my desk, Tripp following right behind me.

Time for shooting the breeze is over. When duty calls, I answer. As I turn the corner, I see what has Nurse Lee so on edge. There's a line of patients at the registration counter. Nurses are running around like crazy. At least two dozen patients are here, and it looks like there are more outside.

"Holy shit, I think I should catch you at home, man." Tripp says behind me.

"Yeah." I answer without looking at him. He knows when it's time for me to work, I have no time for distractions.

Just as he's about to leave, a man stumbles over to me and collapses at my feet.

"Damn it! Nurse Thomas, go get me a wheelchair for this gentleman." I call out and she replies right away.

"Sir, sir, can you hear me? Can you tell me what's going on?"

"Ugh." The man groans out, and I get down on the floor with him.

"Come on, you have to tell me what's going on, so I can help you." I say again, and finally the man begins to talk.

"I've got a feeling... It’s inside my bones." He grunts and sounds so pained.

His bones? Was it an explosion or something? Earthquake? Nerve gas? My mind goes through the hundreds of things that it could be that would cause bone and joint pain.

"How bad? When did it start?" I ask him, trying to get additional information. I look up for some assistance, but I see all the other nurses trying to attend to other people.

He doesn't answer again, just moans.

"Okay, tell me what it feels like, sharp dull?" I ask

"It feels, electric… like wavy… when I turn it on" he says, I get confused. How does he turn it on?

"No!" Tripp gasps loud.

I look over at him to find out what he's seeing, and his face is frozen in shock. Before I can ask him anything, a woman on the other side of the room starts talking louder, "It's all through my city... I mean all through my home. Flying up...ceiling... when we're in our zone." She's talking in gibberish, and now I'm seriously starting to worry about gas poisoning or-

Loud blaring music starts and a dozen of the people jump up on the seats and start singing, Can't Stop The Feeling by Justin Timberlake. The man in front of me, reaches into his coat and pulls out a Trolls wig and gets up to join in. When I look around, people have sparkling lights and there's a whole dance routine, even outside, the people are dancing.

The only off sound I hear is Tripp, who is damn near having an asthma attack he's laughing so hard.

A fucking flash mob.

She pranked me with a god-damn trolls flash mob.

I hate that woman. Hate her!

So, why can't I stop smiling. She comes in front of me and reaches down to help me off the floor and when I stand up she turns around and starts dancing with me, singing the stupid song and clapping as everyone puts on a show for us. All the nurses are having a ball. Even Dr. Mason and the two new doctors I've hired are having a blast. Nyla pulls me outside to see the bigger part of the spectacle and I notice people have come out of the small shops, cars have stopped and on every face is a smile as they watch the show.

In all my years, my family has prided itself on being one of the founders of Grand River. We've vowed to protect, heal and help grow the people here, but no one, not my father, not my mother, grandparents or myself has ever done this.

Nyla has been here for less than two months, and already she's turning this dreary, boring town into one of happiness and excitement.

I'm awestruck by not just her physical beauty, but the beauty of her soul.
