He ran his hands down her back, pulling her more tightly into his embrace. Their lips met again, and she let out a deep sigh of contentment as he kissed her neck. She felt his arousal against her.

“It’s all we’ll ever need, my darling,” he echoed, looking into her eyes, their foreheads resting against one another’s, their arms clasping one another’s waists.

“All we’ll ever want,” she whispered.

He kissed her again, pulling at the sleeves of her dress. The two of them were caught up in the ecstasy of the passion they now shared, their lips pressed to one another’s, their hands searching one another out. Eloise gasped at the touch of his hands on her breasts, now exposed to the earlier autumnal chill. He looked up at her with a mischievous smile on his face.

“I’ve desired you ever since we left the church. How I’ve longed to be alone with you, to feel your touch, to kiss you, to show you how much I love you,” he said, pulling at her dress, which now fell to the ground, exposing her to his touch as she fumbled with his breeches.

She did not notice the chill of the air, for the warmth of his caress was enough to fill her with sensual pleasure, overwhelming her with such feelings as to make her forget everything but that moment. She loved him, and they showed one another the depths of that love, their bodies entwined, as his hands searched her out, the two of them against the wall of the folly built as a temple to love.

“And I want to show you just the same,” she panted, holding him to her, each of them caught up in the moment they now shared.

His lips traced a trail down her breasts, and he kneeled before her, his tongue searching her out and causing her to gasp. A warmth so intense flooded her, and she held the back of his head as his tongue brought her to new heights of pleasure, engulfing her in an ecstasy she had never felt before. This was the love she had denied herself, the pleasure she had held back from. Eloise had vowed to temper her own happiness in the face of her sister’s disappearance, but with Alice now found, the pleasure was hers to be overwhelmed by.

“And more?” Jackson asked, looking up at her, and Eloise nodded.

“More,” she moaned, as he rose and pushed himself against her.

He slid his hand beneath her leg, holding it up, and she clung to him as he entered her with the fullness of his length, their lips pressed together as another flood of ecstatic warmth flooded her. Eloise arched her neck as Jackson’s rhythm became faster. He kissed her neck, pushing himself against her more forcefully as she clung to him, trying to stifle her cries as, with a sudden gasp, his seed came forth, flooding her with such warmth that she let out a cry, shuddering with her own ecstasy as the two of them gasped for breath.

“Oh, Eloise, my darling, Eloise,” he breathed, smiling at her.

He pressed his lips to hers, lowering her leg, their foreheads pressed together as the intensity of what they had shared subsided. She smiled at him, her arms around his neck, kissing him again as she shivered in the cool air of that autumnal day.

“I never thought… oh, I’d denied myself for so long. But this, oh, this was something else,” she gasped, as he helped her pull up her dress.

“You don’t need to deny yourself anything, Eloise. Not anymore,” he said, and she smiled at him as she adjusted the shoulders of her dress.

“Neither of us do. But, what about your inheritance? What does it mean for us?” she asked.

It was a question that had been on her mind. It was Alice who had reminded her she was soon to be a duchess when she married Jackson. But his fortune was in the hands of his uncle, and what they would do once they were married remained an unanswered question. Jackson had pulled up his breeches and adjusted his waistcoat. He smiled at her and offered her his arm.

“Well, I’m glad we found this folly. But as for my fortune, well, we can do anything we like. A grand tour first, perhaps, and then find an estate in the countryside, and…” he trailed off, as they looked at one another and smiled, glancing back at the folly, which now seemed to present an interesting question.

“I wonder if…” Eloise began, and Jackson nodded.

“We could make inquiries. There must be a house nearby. A folly like this doesn’t just appear in woodland by itself. If there’s an estate, perhaps it’s tenanted, and we could rent it for ourselves, perhaps even buy it,” he said, his voice growing excited.

Eloise could think of nothing more wonderful than living in such a place as this, close to her sister, and surrounded by the beautiful countryside they found themselves in. It was the perfect idea, and as they walked on, they talked excitedly about the prospect of all that lay ahead.

“Did you think you’d ever marry for love?” she asked, as she and Jackson emerged onto the lane leading back to the farm.

He pondered for a moment and shook his head.

“You know, I didn’t. I was fixated on the idea of getting my hands on my inheritance. It was all a terrible thing, quite distasteful. I was angry with my uncle, but I suppose I should be grateful to him. Had I received my inheritance from an early age, I’d have married some woman who didn’t really love me but loved my money. I’d have been miserable, and I wouldn’t have been in love. But I don’t need to think about that now, do I?” He turned to her and put his arms around her.

She rested her head on his chest, content at that moment to simply be at his side and know she was loved.

“We don’t need to think about any of it,” she said, but before she could go on, a shout from up ahead caused them both to look up.

“Look out, we’re coming through,” Eloise’s father called out, and Eloise stared in astonishment at her father, Annabelle and Samuel, all riding on the back of a stout-looking pony who was charging up the lane towards them.

The children were crying out in delight and urging the Viscount to greater speeds. Eloise had never seen her father look so happy. His cravat was gone, his stiff collar was wilted, and his frock coat and breeches were covered in mud. He was whooping in delight, as the pony charged past them.

“I’ve not had this much fun in years,” he exclaimed, as both Eloise and Jackson looked on in amazement.

“Bless my soul, I think he’s found what he lost all those years ago,” Jackson said, slipping his hand into Eloise’s.
