What the fuck?I snap to Sheba.

He will pay for that!

Sheba moves forward and begins to circle the gray and white wolf as anger thrums through her at the fact that her own mate interfered in her fight. Before she can advance on him, he shifts back, Creed stands there stark naked with his chest rising and falling rapidly.

“This isn’t what you think.” Sheba opens the mind link and releases an angry growl; she is pissed Creed interrupted her kill shot. I’m more confused as to why he is protecting Davina after what she just did to us! That crazy bitch nearly killed my brother.

You dare to stop me?

It isn’t what you think Sheba.

Then what is it? She tried to kill my pack and yet you defend her.

Shift back.

No!

I need to talk to Jess and right now your emotions are running way too high to see reason.

Sheba releases another growl and refuses to even entertain Creed’s urge to shift. She turns back toward Davina who is now surrounded by vampire guards which just pisses us off, I spy Ro out of the corner of my eye trying to shake Sky awake. Cole and Zeke just stand there glaring at Davina and the other vamps, good at least they aren’t on her side and trying to stop me.

We can’t take out eight guards to get to her Sheba.

I want her blood on my tongue Jess. The anger in Sheba’s voice is so potent.

I know, but we can’t take her out now, we need to be smart about this, please.

What do you suggest?

I don’t want you to leave me again though!I can hear the sadness and worry in my own voice.

I will never leave you.

But you did!

No, I didn’t, your trauma and the drugs just locked me down for a while. You and I are one in the same Jess, we are bound together.

If we shift back, you will still be with me, right?Sheba doesn’t answer, she relinquishes her control over our body and then I begin to shift back. I don’t enjoy the shift this time I’m too wired from what happened and fearful that Sheba will be gone again. Having her back and hearing her voice made me feel complete again. Once I’m on two legs I remain crouched with my head bowed slightly to give myself a minute.

I’m still here, Jess.Relief rushes through me, renewed determination charges through my body now that I have her back. I rise to my feet not caring that I’m standing here naked as the day I was born in front of all these people. I keep all the emotion of my face and make sure that no one will be able to read the way that I’m feeling.

Chapter

Thirty Nine

Credence

I can’t tear my eyes from her she looks so destroyed but stronger than ever at the same time. She holds her head high and squares her shoulders as she stares me down, I can see her fighting inside herself. She wants to rip me a new one but is holding back, I spy Cairo helping Sky to her feet and Zeke and Cole watching me and Jess. Davina has the right idea about staying as still as a statue not saying a single word, the vampires around us all stand stoically and watch. I step forward to try close the space between Jess and I so I can explain but she steps backward making me halt. When I agreed to Davina helping me unlock Jess’s wolf, I didn’t think this would be her solution.

“You knew this was going to happen, didn’t you?” The accusation in her voice is clear.

“I didn’t know she was going to dothis.” I try to defend; she narrows her eyes and places her hands on her hips. I know this must be hard for her standing in front of all these people naked, but she is doing a good job of acting like them seeing her post baby body doesn’t affect her.

“But you knew she was going to do something, didn’t you?” A whoosh of air escapes me, I can feel my brother and the others watching me and the weight of their stares is heavy.

“Yes.” A low growl escapes Jess as she moves toward me, she leaves enough space between us so I can’t reach for her.

“Why the hell would you agree to something like this?” I try for humor.
