“H-he’s, my father.” She hiccups.
“Yeah baby, he is.” Another sob tears from her, and it’s so loud, a moment later the door bursts open. I don’t have to have eyes in the back of my head to know it’s her brothers.
“What did you do?”
“Is it the baby?”
“Are you pregnant?” They all bark their questions in unison, I smile as I gently push her back and lift her face. I plant a soft kiss against her lips and wink.
“Want me to check the tests?” She nibbles that damn lip again, and it has my cock jumping to attention. She nods her head and I see the fear in her eyes, I cup her cheeks and bend, so we are eye to eye, I ignore her asshole brothers behind us as I speak. “Whatever happens, I’m here, and I’m not going anywhere Belle, I promise.” She sniffs, then smiles meekly as she nods her head. I turn back to the three assholes and nod my head; they move inside the room and go to Belle as I make way inside the bathroom. Sitting there on the counter is the three tests, I stand there and stare at them for a moment, Bex tries to push me forward eager to find out if Belle will bare our pup, but I push him back down.
Shit will change Bex, no more running and no more fighting. We have to lay down roots and build a home if she is pregnant.
Agreed, we fight this last battle and then we go home.
I haven’t been back to my pack lands since we ran from it, when the council showed up. I take a few deep breaths and move toward the counter; my nerves are going nuts and my palms grow sweaty the closer I get. The tests are face down on the counter, I take a couple of calming breaths and then do a mental count down before I flip them over.
3…2…1…flip.
Holy mother of mercy.
I stand there and just stare at the three of them, two pink lines stare back at me, and on the last one it sayspregnant.
Belle is pregnant…with my baby.
The sound of their conversation shakes me from my moment of stupor, I’m going to be a dad! Holy shit, I grab the tests and shove them in my back pocket as I run a hand through my hair and try to compose myself. I make my way back into the room and find the three guys huddled around Belle, whispering––dumbasses.
“In case you all forgot, I’m a shifter and can hear every word you are saying.” Belle drops her gaze to the floor at the sound of my voice.
“Did you hear the part about me calling you a drop-kick?” I scowl at Blake, the little shit is a pain in my ass, but truthfully, the loyalty the four of them have to each other is endearing. Cassius stands in the middle of the three of them, he turns to face me blocking Belle behind his back. He runs his gaze over me in clear disdain and I bristle at the accusation in his eyes, when he meets my stare. I brace myself for his threats and abuse, ready to strike at him if need be, Bex is dying to go a round with him.
“If those tests say what I think they do, then I need your word.” I make sure to keep the surprise off my face as I nod curtly and ask.
“My word for what?” He blows out a loud exhale before squaring his shoulders.
“I know about your father and his…history.” I tense at the mention of my father, he better make his point fast, that is a sore subject for me. “My sister will not be some side piece; I want your word that you will treat her right and do better than your father did for you and your sister.” I can’t hide the shock from my face this time.
“If you ever try to keep her from us or our father, I swear to God, we will wage war on you and your pack. Our sister means everything to us, and she is the apple to our father’s eye.” I turn my shocked gaze to Hunter and nod.
“She is not to be traded like chattel to Alexander, my brothers and I will help you with whatever you need to rid yourself of him. The baby that she carries may be half yours, and I don’t give a fuck about logistics like DNA, that baby is still half of us. We will be here for her and the baby at any given time, we will visit whenever we want, and you will not stop us Cairo.” I smile proudly at each of the Wilder brothers, their love and devotion to Belle and our baby, is something I’m in awe of. I will never keep them from Belle or our baby, even though they piss me off. I clear my throat and decide to be honest with them before breaking the news to my mate.
“I hid my sister for five years, helped her birth the twins, held her through the loss of my niece, and helped raise my nephew. I know how important family is, and I know I’m a bastard, but I would never keep her from you or your father, Belle’s views on you three never changed, even when she learnt the truth.” I suck in a harsh breath and say the words the three of them want to hear. “On my honor as alpha of the rogues, I, Cairo Cruz hereby swear to be faithful, loving and forever there for my mate. I cannot swear not to hide things from her––.” They all growl and I hear Belle snicker, but I push on. “But only if it’s something to do with her safety, I will always put her wellbeing first. Better to ask for forgiveness rather than permission I say. Now can you move, you big fucker, so I can talk tomymate.” Cass moves toward me, and I ready myself for him to strike out, but instead he offers me his hand, I place mine in his and meet his gaze.
“As future alpha to the Wilder pack, I, Cassius Wilder, open my pack to you and welcome you onto our lands whenever you like.” I stare at him for a moment before nodding, that was fucking huge of him to do, inviting another alpha to your lands is like opening it up to a lion. Blake and Hunter shake my hand before moving to stand behind me with Cass. Belle stands there nervously twisting her hands, staring at the floor with her chin on her chest, I make my way over to her and clasp each of her hands in mine, but she still won’t look at me.
“Look at me beauty.” She slowly lifts her watery gaze to mine and it pains me when I see the fear in her eyes. I will do anything to keep that look from ever gracing her beautiful face again. “Everything changes now, I’m not Creed, and I swear to you, I will never hide shit from you again. I know this is hard for you, because you don’t have a wolf.” She lowers her gaze in shame, I drop her hand and grip her chin lifting it, she needs to see the truth in my eyes. “I don’t mean that in a bad way, all I’m saying is from the day of the challenge with Cass, shit shifted for me, you’re my beginning, middle and end. There is no one else for me Belle, only you. I’m all in beauty, and I hope you are to?” I have just voiced my biggest insecurity, not only in front of her, but in front of her brothers as well, a small crease forms between her brows.
“You’re not angry?”
“What would I be angry about?” She shrugs her shoulders and looks up at me with those innocent eyes. It hits me then, she is so much younger than me, and hasn’t had a chance to live her life, I mean it’s not like she was even going outside before me, but still.
“That you know, I could be pregnant?” I smile.
“Babe, I’ve lived and done all the young and dumb shit teenagers do, so the real question is. Are you angry?” She smiles wide and shakes her head. “Do you want to know if there is a little CC in there?” I move my eyes to her tummy; I hear the dicks behind me groan but ignore them.
“Yes!” I drop my hold on her and grab the tests from my back pocket then hand them to her.
