“It sounds like you really cared about her.” He laughs, but there is no humor to it.

“She is the reason for who I am today, she was all my reasons, if it wasn’t for her, I would never have sought peace with the shifters.”

“What do you mean?”

“I approached Austin Cruz because of her, the existence of vampires isn’t widely known, only a few shifters know of our existence. I thought they were savages and beneath us, until I met Kiara, I sought to try and find peace among the races so we could all live…peacefully. It all changed when Austin was murdered, I thought taking Davina Reeves would change that, but she is the worst of them all.”

“Wait, I thought she was trying to help the vampires and shifters?” He growls but it doesn’t have any effect, he isn’t a shifter, so it just sounds comical.

“She is a vile pathological liar, she made out that we tortured her. I never met Davina until about twenty years ago, Vince was the one who intercepted her when she ran. She wants to destroy the shifters and make vampires the superior race.”

“I don’t see how that doesn’t benefit you though?” I know I sound like a bitch, but why would he fight for the shifters when he’s a vampire? His eyes take on a sympathetic look, and it baffles me.

“How could I let the race that gave me the love of my life and the most precious miracle be dammed?” That shocks the shit out of me. “I fight against her because if all shifters are to be dammed, then that means my daughter would be to. She let the others believe thatshehid you to keep you safe, the truth is, she had no idea where you were. I mean why would a vampire hide one of their own with the race they hate. Those vampires on that island are all created by my blood, and it sickens me.”

“Wait, what?”

“You see when a wolf bites a vampire, their venom is lethal to our kind, the only blood that can heal a wolf bite is an original. I left vials of my blood with Vince, so if that occurred, he would have a cure to save them. A drop of my blood can turn anyone into a vampire, if they die with it in their system.”

“So, like the Vampire Diaries?” He rolls his eyes and shakes his head.

“That show is lies.”

“Why is Davina really hunting me?” All expression vanishes from his face, causing me to tense.

“You’re special––.”

“So help me God, if you say it’s because of my visions, I may stake you myself!” I grumble, which earns me a chuckle.

“If you want to kill a vampire, go for the head.”

“Noted.”

“She wants you dead because your blood is the cure for vampirism.” My eyes bug out of my head as I stare at him.

“Say what now?”

“Nature always finds a balance. You are the balance to our kind; a drop of your blood will cure any vampire and transform them back to a human.” My mind is reeling with this knowledge.

“But, how?”

“You are the first of your kind Belle, it is never heard of vampires reproducing, because technically we are dead, but somehow, here you are.”

“How does Davina know about me?” He shakes his head.

“I truly do not know; from what I can deduce, she doesn’t exactly know that you are my daughter, only that your blood is the cure. She wants to eliminate you, because you are a threat to her army. She even orchestrated the capture of Cairo’s mother and the original alpha to the Reeves pack. Kane and Shelley wanted peace like I do, Davina couldn’t have that, so she handed them and Dela over to the council without hesitation.” Before I can process what he said, a vision slams into me.

I’m standing outside an abandoned old building, glass is scattered along the path outside. Screams can be heard from inside; the sound sends shivers down my spine. The door to the building opens and a group of people run out, various cuts and grazes line their bodies.

“What the fuck is she?” One-man shouts.

“There is no way they can cage that bitch anymore.” Another answers, the five of them take off running, and I decide to take a look inside. I make my way up the staircase and can hear shouts over the top of screams, shivers roll through me. I stop at the first landing and peer around only to find it empty; I take the stairs again to the next floor and cover my ears. The anguish in the scream is tangible, whoever this is must be in a lot of pain. Once at the top I move around the side to what used to be a conference room and pause. Sky is on her knees with her head thrown back, hands bound behind her back and four men stand around her with cattle prongs, they each take turns ramming the devices into her. Tears flow from my eyes; they are treating her like a wild animal!

“Release it now and this will all end!” I flick my gaze to the side of the room to see who spoke, lining the wall is the shifter council with the man Phillip at the front.

“You fool, it needs to be under the harvest moon.” I snap my gaze to the other side and my jaw nearly hits the floor; Davina Reeves stands there with an angry look on her face. “She cannot do the transfer until the moon is at its peak, isn’t that right Kayla?” I can’t make out the girls features; she is shrouded by the shadows in the corner of the room.

“Tomorrow night is when this has to be done.”
