I move even quicker, running at a light jog now. My human sends out notes of exhilaration, with a tiny bit of fear beneath, but good fear, ready-for-it fear.

I know it with the same depth and certainty I will put my children in her.

Our lives will be filled with goodness, joy, and all warm things, and now I’m changing again, relaxing into my human skin, lying back as I close my eyes and sink into the blaring glow.

When I open my eyes, Ruby looks down at me, leaning on her elbow. She’s staring with a soft smile, her brown smooth hair so soft, making me reach up and touch a lock with my hand.
Not my paw, my hand.
And I know I can do this, brush it from her face, without the act shattering me.
“Do you remember?” she asks.
I sit up, wrapping my arms around her. We’re against the tree.
I lean against it, feeling the bark bite into my naked back, feeling my cock stir as I bring my lips closer to hers.
The night is deep dark, almost total all around us.
Clouds have covered the moon and the stars since I began to change back.
