Taking a deep breath, she finally seemed to pull herself together. “Mr. Greco, your suite is waiting for you.”

“Thank you.” He took the keycard and took my hand in his again.

I dared not to utter a word until we were in a different elevator. The moment the doors slid closed, and it was just the four of us, I rested my hands on my hips. He scanned the card, and we ascended.

“I thought you said this was a day trip.”

He smirked, glancing at me from the corner of his eye. “It is, but I have other plans for us.”

He brought my hand to his lips, pressing a gentle kiss on my knuckles. Moments later, the doors opened to the chic foyer of an enormous suite. White and black with gold accents were prevalent throughout. The exterior walls were all ceiling to floor windows, offering panoramic views. A narrow accent wall in the living room housed a black marble modern fireplace, giving the entire space a contrast to the dominance of the white walls.

I skipped to the windows, inhaling a sharp breath as I gawked at Niagara Falls and Canada. It was even more breathtaking than it was from the angle in the helicopter. Hands snaked around me from behind. I leaned my head back against Valentino’s chest.

He placed a peck on my shoulder, then my cheek. “I love you.”

I turned around to face him. “I love you too.” Wrapping my fingers around the back of his neck, I tugged his face to mine. He opened his mouth, pulling me as tightly against his body as he could. We were so lost in the moment that I whimpered audibly when he pulled away to retrieve his phone from his pocket.

Sighing, he glowered at the screen. He turned his phone to show me it was Lindsay and rolled his eyes. “One second.”

Hello?

No.

I told you I was spending the day with my fiancée.

Noah poked his head into the room and leaned in the large entrance, crossing his arms over his chest. When I glanced over, he lifted his eyebrows at me. I tried to remain positive, but internally, I felt Noah’s words burning in my mind. I feigned a smile. I could tell that no part of Valentino wanted to be on that phone call, so it gave me a sense of security.

I don’t think that should matter, but we will be home late tonight.

We’ll discuss it tomorrow or if you don’t want to wait, you are welcome to take it up with Joseph, per my last email.

Without a goodbye, he hung up. Gripping the phone tightly, he held it to his chin while glaring outside. I swallowed hard and fought back the need to ask him what that was all about, since I only heard his side of the conversation. He shoved his phone back in his pocket and turned his attention back to me.

“I know what you’re thinking.” He sighed. “And we can discuss it once we’re back home, okay?”

Agreeably, I nodded, but he clearly did not know what I was thinking at all. I hated to keep my thoughts from him, but until I had a definitive answer with proof from Noah, I did not want to bring it up and cause unnecessary drama. Valentino already did not trust Noah, but something in me told me I could.

Able to sense I was in deep thought, he slowly ran his fingertips up and down my arms, soothing me the only way he knew he could right now.

“Mr. Greco.” Noah cleared his throat.

Valentino turned to face him.

“Joseph and I are ready to leave when you are.”

“Are you ready, my love?” Valentino presented me his elbow.

Nodding, I hooked my hand in the crook of his arm and grabbed my handbag off the sofa on the way back to the elevator.

“So, what’s the plan, Stan?” I snickered as the door closed.

He cocked his head in confusion. “I don’t understand that reference?”

I snorted. “You’re too Italian for American jokes, I guess.”

“Clearly.” He laughed lowly. “We’re going to do some belated birthday shopping before we go on the boat.”

“Val, you know I don’t like to spen—”
