“Miss Ayala,” he sighed, “when we sign the contract Mr. Greco has us sign, we are well-aware what protecting a man like him and his family might involve.” He chuckled. “Do you think he’s the first wealthy man to have this type of drama? This is nothing.”

“But’s it’s my drama not his.”

He bowed his head. “Correct, but if he was some broke ass nobody, do you think Felipe would give a shit and would have asked him tokeep you safe?” He held his hands up. “And, I’m not saying your man can’t kick someone’s ass because he’s tough. But do you think it was his money or his strength that made Felipe reach out to him?”

I took a slow, deep breath.

“You’re just the pawn in this and he knows that destroying you will destroy the empire Mr. Greco built.” He shrugged a shoulder. “I know these things as I have dealt with this many times before.” He tapped the table with his finger. “You’re not the first woman to be a small plan in a bigger scheme…and you definitely won’t be the last.”

“But there’s so much you don’t know about my past with him.” I choked out the words that were my harsh reality.

He nodded. “And there’s a lot about my past you don’t know so let’s leave it at that okay?” He stood and got ready to walk away but I leaned up and grabbed his arm. He whipped his head around, glaring down at me. Something about his eyes suddenly looked familiar.

“What the hell are you talking about?” I shouted in a loud whisper.

“It’s been a long time,Isabelle,” he smirked, “you must have blocked out so many memories.”

He jerked his arm away from me with a coy smirk, tilting his head.

I was left dumbfounded. I fell back in my seat, folding my arms over my chest. I had trusted him, and he knew me? How? He was clearly a part of my past, but I did not know him. Noah Fine. I had never met a guy named Noah Fine. I had a cousin named Noah, but I had not seen him and his family since—Oh my God!I sprung to my feet. “Noah?!”

Valentino’s spun around. The girls woke up in a panic. Joseph propped up, mouth agape. A wide grin inched onto Noah’s face. Lunging forward, I threw my arms around his neck, hugging him as tightly as I could muster.

“What the fuck is going on?” Valentino yelled, marching back to us.

Aston started to cry but Tanya was able to get him back to sleep shortly after. Joseph attempted to sit up. Laura and Tanya stared in our direction, watching me hug the man they only knew as my security. Noah pulled away from my embrace.

I hooked my arm in his, smiling at Valentino. “I haven’t seen him since I was like seven.”

“Six actually.” Noah corrected me with his brow arched.

“What are you talking about?” Valentino’s eyes darted back and forth between us.

“Noah’s mom and mine were sisters.” My eyes welled with tears. “But my dad and his got into a huge fight and they moved away to another state.”

“Wait!” Valentino barked. “Someone better tell me what the hell is going on! Sit down!”

We are now descending and should be arriving shortly,William announced. Please return to your seats and secure your bodies so they don’t flop all over the place. That means you Joseph.

He was trying to be funny, having no idea about the dramatic standoff going on in the cabin. Slowly, we all sat in the closest seats, buckling in. But Joseph, was fighting back a small smile.

“Why are we arriving so early?” Tanya squeaked out from the front.

“We have a layover in LA first then we are going to the island.” Valentino growled without looking toward her.

His eyes were fixated on Noah who obviously did not know where to begin with this one. I had no idea who he was until that moment, so I was unsure what to say as well. I had not seen him in years, nor had we had any contact whatsoever until he started working for us.

“Valentino.” I sighed, getting ready to say something. Anything at this point.

Noah put his hand up. “I believe I owe you both a long explanation with answers.”

Valentino mumbled something in Italian then took a deep breath and crossed his arms. “Start talking before I fucking murder you.” He reached his hand toward me. “Get over here and sit next to me.”

I unfastened my seat belt and stepped across the aisle, sitting beside him then buckling back in. He draped his arm around my shoulder, pulling me against his body. I placed my hand on his chest, feeling his heart pounding.

“Start talking!” Valentino crossed his ankle over his knee. “Now!” He growled.
