“It’s fine.”

As I stepped out, she stepped in. Our bodies crushed together in the doorway. I held my arms out, ensuring I didn’t accidentally touch her anywhere. She giggled, grabbing her towel as it got caught on my shirt and fell to the floor. I bent over to pick it up but made the mistake of glancing to the side.

Her soaked, tight, white bikini bottoms with little black birds left almost nothing for the imagination. Swallowing hard, I stood straight, wrapping the towel around her. My eyes trailed down to her ample cleavage, barely covered by two triangles of nearly transparent fabric. Her nipples were rigid, begging to be released from the top.

Finally, I met her gaze.

“Did anyone keep up with the care of your pool while you were away?” She pinned her lip between her teeth.

I nodded. “Every Monday. The same since I moved in. Marissa used it a lot while I was away.”

“Do you think I can swim some after all my work is done?” Tucking the corner of the towel in, she folded her arms around her stomach. “Dad kinda killed my vibe for the summer.”

“I can understand why. You were playing with an older m—”

“Vinny!” Alicia called out from the kitchen down the corridor.

I glanced down at Elizabeth’s plump lips before meeting her gaze. “See you soon.” I felt her eyes burning a hole in the back of my head as I strutted down the hallway toward her mother’s voice. With a peek over my shoulder, I almost froze as she leaned in the bathroom's doorway, clutching her midsection, gently biting her thumbnail.

As I meandered his enormous home office, I shredded documents he ordered me to, dusted the massive built-in bookcases, and helped sort through the mail that had been coming to his house. He’d left me alone for most of the day unless I had a question. I was bent over, picking up a pile of old envelopes, when I heard a noise behind me. Gripping the stack of bills in my fingers, I spun around.

Hands nestled in his pockets, he cocked a brow. “Almost done?”

I curled my upper lip, extending my hand. “You really need to set up paperless billing.”

Tilting his head, his expression softened a bit.

“I can show you how to set it up.” I dropped the envelopes on his desk. “Seriously, you weren’t even away long enough to have an excuse for this one.”

Silence filled the air as he removed his hands from his pockets and strode to his desk. Yanking his oversized black executive chair back, he sat down and rolled it forward. He opened his laptop, tapping a four-digit code in to unlock it.

“I’m shocked you even have a laptop.”

“Are you going to stand there and make jokes or get over here and help me with the paperless shit?”

Smiling, I waltzed over, leaning a palm on the desk's surface. He watched me intently as I studied his computer. It started to glitch. “What year did you buy this?”

“Several years before I went away.”

Fluttering my eyelashes, I exhaled, twisting to him. “You need a new one.”

He glimpsed at his wrist. “It’s too late to do anything right now.”

“Oh, no.” I noticed the time.

“What’s wrong?”

“I forgot I’m supposed to stay home with Lucas tonight.”

“He’s nineteen. Why?”

“Last time my parents went out, he threw a party, I guess. They’re gone for the night.”

“And yet you’re the one in trouble for a professor?”

I gasped, instantly blushing. “Dad told you?”

Pushing back from his desk, he stood, towering over me as he glared. His gaze briefly lowered to my mouth. He rolled his tongue over his bottom lip. “I think I would have figured it out pretty soon, anyway.”
