“I think we all know I seem to attract trouble, so no one should be feeling guilty. Do you hear me? Looks like I’m staying for a while, if that’s okay, although I have nothing with me. No clothes, underwear, pajamas, shampoo. Nothing.”

I released her from my hold, seeing that my brothers and sisters wanted to comfort her as well.

“How about we order room service for breakfast and then we work out everything else later?” Addi offered and Emmy’s stomach rumbling told us that was a perfect idea.

Chapter 37

Emmy

Stalker?Crazyfan?Whatthe hell?I’d spent years trying to be invisible, but I still ended up around fucked up people. I was a magnet. At least I felt safe here… with them. With him. He’d been so kind and gentle with me since I got back and every touch cracked open my heart that little bit more. And I didn’t want him to stop.

My phone beeped, pulling me from my memories of his massage last night and how wet it had left me.

Quinn: Where are you? I went to your apartment and there were police everywhere. Tell me you’re ok.

Me: I’m ok. There was a break in. I’ve had to go away for a bit.

Quinn: Where?

Me: I’m sorry, but I can’t tell you. Someone is trying to get to me. I just need to lie low.

Quinn: And you think it’s me?

Me: No, but the police might. Other than Thomas, you were the only person who knew my new address.

Quinn: Wow, what the fuck? Thanks!

Me: I’m sorry, but some messed up stuff has been happening. I don’t know who to trust.

Quinn: I am your oldest friend. I’ve supported you through everything. How could you, Em?

Me: I’m sorry, Quinn. I’m scared.

Those three dots appeared and disappeared a couple of times and then they vanished. My stomach clenched as I realized what I’d just accused my friend of.

Someone called my name from elsewhere in the penthouse.

“Emmy. You need to come and see this. I promise you’ll love it,” Mav shouted.

I left my room to search out where his voice was coming from.

“Emmy, some surprises have magically appeared for you. Now we don’t want you trying to say no because we’ll be insulted.”

My brows pinched. “What have you done, Mav?”

“Hey, I’m just the messenger.”

He swept his arm around dramatically to show me five rails of clothes. Everything I could ever need. Underwear, swimsuits, high-end dresses, leggings, and oversized sweaters, and next to them were boxes full of toiletries, make-up, jewelry, shoes, and accessories.

“What the hell, guys? You didn’t have to do this.”

“We didn’t. Melissa and Thomas did. We did this.” Frankie pointed in the corner behind all the clothes and I screamed.

There was a super-size, deluxe wooden enclosure, and inside was an angry Shelly, glaring at me, judging my life choices.
