“Ournew house, rock star. Don’t make me hurt you,” Emmy called out from where she stood to the side of me, and the laughter got louder.
“Our new house, angel. I wanted to invite you here because you’re family. Blood or not, we are a family. You put up with me when I was broken, you supported me when I tried to get better, and most of all, you loved me through it all. I don’t know how I will ever find a way to make you realize what you all mean to me. Lori, Phil. I am so grateful for you both. I love you more than I can ever tell you. Frankie, little sis. You have my heart and I would do anything for you. Gray, Mav. My best mates for life. I think you two are the most unappreciated, but fuck, geezers, I love you both. Thomas, Melissa, I’m glad my girl has you on her side, although you’re both scary as fuck… I’m not afraid to admit that. Quinn, thank you for protecting my girl all these years and for forgiving us when things got a little crazy.” I watched as Quinn blushed. It had taken her a while for her to forgive us for thinking she might have been involved with what happened at Emmy’s apartment, but she couldn’t stay mad at Em for long. Now she was here every week for dinner as if nothing had ever happened.
“Ethan, Ivy, welcome to the family. We are so glad you’re jumping on board the crazy train with us. Matt, we love you, big man. And Addi. You’ve done more than you ever needed to, put up with more of my shit than anyone else, and protected me from myself. No more threatening to quit, because we just won’t let you. I remember being that kid, practicing in the garage with my best friends and now here we are, all these years later, and I still get to spend my time with my best friends. I am so lucky. But then there is you, Emmy Winters. You appeared out of know where and stole my heart. I will love you for forever, angel.” She mouthedI love you tooat me.
“Do you fancy marrying me tonight?”
She stared and mouthed, “Tonight?”
“Right now.”
Everyone clapped and cheered because they’d all known about my plan for weeks and had been sworn to secrecy.
“But I’m not dressed for a wedding, Tan.”
“Angel, you look perfect. I can see your tattoo and I have a ring that will fit you this time. What else do you need? I have to warn you, I’m not sure this wedding will be legally binding, but I don’t care. I just want to hear you say you’re mine forever.”
She leaned into me, her mouth close to mine. “I’ve been yours since the minute I met you when I woke up in your bed and you gave me Matt, so I’d feel safe. I would love to marry you tonight.” She pressed her lips to mine and everyone cheered again. Emmy pulled away, blushing.
“Are you sure, Tan?”
“If you are, angel, then I’m ready to start the next chapter of our lives.” My lips moved to her ear so no one else could hear. “And make a houseful of babies.”
“Come on then, let’s make an honest man of you, rock star.”
Matt winked at Emmy with a smile as Mav and Gray stepped forward to conduct the ceremony after they did some online certification we were sure wasn’t legal in England.
