“We’re not leaving your side for a second, princess.”

And that’s where we stayed, next to our wife, desperate to keep her safe.

Thomas

"Boss?”

“Sean? What you doing here?”

“Sorry to disturb you at home, but I have some news I thought you might want to hear.”

“Okay, I’ll listen, if you stop calling me boss. You’ve been in charge now for four fucking years. I think you can call me Thomas.”

“Never, Boss. But do you want to hear this or not?”

“Probably not. I retired for a reason, remember? But go on, tell me.”

“That band you’ve been working with. The eyeliner wearing ones.”

“You’re so down with the cool kids, Sean. You mean the Cosmic Gods. One of the biggest rock bands in the world, but yes, you keep calling them the eyeliner wearing ones. What about them?”

“That Hazel chick you asked me to look into. She’s got a history longer than my cock.”

“Sean, what the fuck?”

“You know you miss me, old man.”

“Get to the point, Sean. I’m not getting any younger.”

“She’s high up in some fucked up organization called PureGrace. Their MO seems to be to put people into high visibility positions andremovesin. They are anti-everything. Pro-life, think that cheating and gay relationships should be made illegal, hate drinking, drugs, even dancing. They have this fancy manifesto, which is basically hundreds of pages of crap about sin being the problem in the world today and how they would change thingsfor the better.”

“How the hell did she get a job with the record label?”

“Jaxx Harmon was her ex-husband. Amos was their son.”

“Whoah! Really? I wasn’t expecting that.”

“That’s what all my dates say.”

“God, you need therapy... or a wife. I'm going to a charity event in a few weeks. You should come. Bring a date.”

“Never. Right, so the house Amos lived in was owned by Hazel. It looks like it was where he kept Ivy. We’ve informed the police working the case and I’ve sent a team of our guys to make sure she doesn’t go anywhere. What do you want to do about Jaxx? He knew what he was doing to your Cosmic fella when he let her work with the band. I mean, their three-way relationship was going to set her crazy off and he let it happen.”

“Bring him in for me, and I’ll check with Matt what the band wants to do.”

“Boss, it looks like her group has orchestrated the bombing of a sexual health clinic, burned down a strip club, persecuted gay teachers, and their current obsession is having certain books banned and lobbying for anti-LGBTQ legislation. Hazel had Amos watching Ivy since she was fired from the band’s team. I think we need to be cautious. It might be worth telling Ivy’s husbands to keep an extra close eye on her until Hazel’s in custody. We’ll keep a watch on Hazel, but who knows who else she has on the payroll.”

“Thanks, Sean, I will. Keep me posted.”

“Boss,” he nodded at me before he turned to leave.

I typed out a message to our best friends to see if they could watch the kids before I went searching for my wife.

“Lissa?”

“Ironman.”

“You want to take a trip to spend some time with the Cosmic Gods for a few days while I tie up some loose ends?”
