Addi, Mav, Tanner, and I had been with him for the last two days, talking to him, trying to bring him back to us, but nothing seemed to work.

Mum and Dad arrived and after Mum burst into tears and demanded to speak to all his doctors, she did the one thing we all knew Gray needed. She called Ivy and Ethan.

Twenty-four hours later, they were at his bedside, poor Ethan breaking down the minute he saw him. And seeing them there, with him, hands wrapped in his, whispering words of love, bartering with the universe to bring him back to them, I wished we’d all fought evil Hazel and the record label harder for them to stay together.

Had we done this to him? Should we have done more to keep the three of them together? Protected their thruple?

Not wanting to fall apart in front of everyone and make a scene, I stepped out of Gray’s room to be met by Matt standing outside, looking exhausted.

“Matt?” I burst into tears, burying my face in his chest. His hands moved to my back, soothing me, mumbling words into my ear to calm my tears. “How could I not see that he was so sad? How could he be that unhappy he’d want to do that to himself? I can’t lose him. I can’t.”

“Rogue, he’s strong, he’s young, Mav found him quickly. Maybe now Ethan and Ivy are here, he’ll wake up. Don’t give up hope. He needs you to believe in him.”

I reached up to find his lips, but he just kissed me on the temple. “We can’t. Someone might see, and you guys have enough going on without you getting caught with me.”

Looking around, there was no one in the corridor of the private ward we’d taken over. I frowned at him, but I didn’t have the energy to argue with him, so I pulled out of his arms.

“Have you eaten?”

I shook my head.

“How about I get some food and coffee arranged?”

“Thanks,” I replied emotionlessly. Unable to shake Matt’s weird energy, I stepped back into the room to focus on Gray.

One problem at a time, Frankie.

The next few days were a whirlwind. The record company sacked Hazel for her part in Gray’s suicide attempt. We took turns to sit with him, while Addi canceled the rest of our tour and we decided to take the six months off the label had offered us.

Gray woke up, they removed his breathing tube, and he spent days apologizing for what he did. Ethan and Ivy took him to a beach house to rest for a few weeks before they flew back to the UK.

Things had gotten better with Tanner’s stalker and he was busy working with Addi to get our book, which Emmy wrote, published, and launched.

Mav spent more time with us than he’d done in a while. Finding Gray had affected him more than he wanted to admit; his usual happy go lucky attitude seemed to have taken a beating. I made sure I hugged him more and checked in with him. Things I wish I’d done with Gray. I’d seen Tanner and Gray in the hospital in the last few months, and I couldn’t see Mav in there as well.

I arrived back at the suite after a yoga session with my trainer. Dropping my bag to the floor, I poured a large glass of water, but as I was about to drink it, something caught my attention. On the coffee table was an envelope with my name on the front, next to a small black box. I lifted the envelope and opened it, pulling out the letter inside.

I thought you should know what kind of man you’re inviting into your bed each night.

Confused, I picked up the box, gasping when I opened it. Inside was a ring. Large, white gold, looking well worn. My hands shook as I held it out in front of me as it dawned on me what this meant. I slammed the box closed, throwing it to the table as if it had burned me.

Pacing the floor, my heart raced, and my mind whirled. How could I have been so blind? So Stupid?

The door to my suite clicked open and there he was, standing in the doorway, looking as if the world hadn’t just imploded.

“Hey, Rogue. You looking forward to getting back home? I thought—”

“Are you married?” I asked him quietly, not sure I even wanted to say the words out loud.

The color drained from his face. “What?”

“It’s a simple question, Matt. Have you ever stood next to a woman, offered to love and cherish her, in sickness and health, until the end of time? Are you fucking married?” Grabbing the ring box, I stormed towards him and slammed it into his chest, along with the note. He stared down at them before his tear-filled eyes flicked up to mine. Tears because he’d been found out.

“Matt? Answer me,” I screamed.

“Y—yes. I’m married,” he stuttered.

His words hit me like a train, and I had to fight to stay standing.
