“Tizio is there now with Nicolo and Diego. The three of them are rotating shifts between themselves. They’re not letting any of the other men in on this,” Christian states, leaning further in the chair.

Leo steps closer, moving to the end of the bed. “They’re discharging Mia today. We’ll be divided in protecting the two of them. She wants to go home to her house rather than the mansion.”

“Fuck,” I mutter, looking up to the ceiling for a brief moment. “Let me guess, she’s refusing and being as stubborn as ever.”

“Yep, she also called Reaper. He’s not too pleased to have been left out of this, but he’s understanding, especially since he’s got his own shit going on.” Leo shrugs, crossing his arms. “Anyway, Mia’s asked if he’ll get his boys to come out and update the security system at her house.”

Reaper’s men are good with security systems. Leo even asked them to do the mansions and several businesses for us. They don’t monitor the systems, having hooked it up for us to do ourselves.

“Let ‘em.” This came from Christian, his eyes calculating. “Mia’s been through enough. She should be where she feels she’s safest.”

Leo looks like Christian has grown two heads, and I’m trying to figure out his play.

“She’s the safest with us,” Leo growls, straightening and dropping his arms to brace them on the end of Blake’s bed—his knuckles turning white because of how tight he’s grasping it.

Christian sits forward, leaning his elbows on his knees, and hangs his head low. “Leo, you know I’d never put her life in jeopardy, and I’m not about to start now,” he states tersely in a quiet but deadly voice.

“What are you planning?” I ask, already having a gut feeling of what he’s going to do.

Slowly he lifts his head and glances between the two of us as he stands. “I’m going to do what I should’ve done years ago.”

“Finally,” Leo mutters more to himself than anyone else.

“What?” Christian whips his head toward my cousin in astonishment.

“You don’t think I didn’t know you were pining after my damn sister?” Leo smirks, relaxing marginally. “Father and I have been waiting. We’ve already decided that she wasn’t going to be marrying anyone for an ally basis. She’s been through enough and needs someone who’ll care for her. Meaning you fuck her over, I’ll put a bullet between your eyes.”

Well shit.

I knew he had a thing for her. Should’ve known Leo and Andrea would’ve seen it as well. But Christian has always kept his distance and his emotions in check. Except for when we’d found her and again when Federico pulled the trigger on her.

Christian seems taken aback by this but doesn’t back down. He straightens as he comes to his feet, meeting Leo’s gaze head-on. “I’d give my life before ever hurting Mia. You should know that,” he states before looking between the two of us.

“It’s why you have my permission to do whatever it is you’re plotting in your head,” Leo mutters, the corner of his lip quirking up.

I study Christian as he plants his hands on his hips and sighs with a shake of his head. I give him a minute before getting back to the topic at hand. “We need to figure out what the fuck to do about those three. I’m not about to leave Blake here alone.”

“You won’t be,” Leo mutters. “Reaper’s sending a few of his brothers here to help with security for the time being.”

I stiffen at what Leo’s just stated. “He’s doing what? Since when does Reaper and his club voluntarily help us?”

“Since Mia and Reaper had a talk not too long ago. Don’t know what it was about except for it had to do with Reaper’s woman,” Leo says, pulling his hands away from the end of Blake’s bed and shoving them in his pockets. “Once his men get here, we go and take care of business. I want it taken care of.”

Releasing a harsh breath, I nod. At least with getting it done and over with, I can take my rage out on those motherfuckers. Just means I won’t get the answers I want from my woman first in all that they’d done to her.

A thought comes to mind, and I grin deviously at Leo. Without knowing what those bastards did to her, I’ll have to be creative in how I take Ethan out for sure. Bianca and Federico, the three of us, will have to decide what to do with them, but either way, the brother will die. Bianca’s fate is still in the air, at least for the moment. It depends on what she has to say for herself—maybe.

ChapterFourteen

THEO

I didn’t want to leave her. Not without her waking up, but I’d called my parents and asked them both to come sit with her. They knew I wouldn’t want her left alone.

The moment they step into the room, I slip out of the bed, not wanting to wake her. Standing next to the bed, I turn to look down at her and lean forward to press a kiss to the top of her head. In the past week, I’ve watched her sleep, but this is the first time she’s slept, looking at peace. Hell, I don’t even know if that’s possible—her being able to peacefully sleep after everything she’s been through.

Straightening, I meet my father’s hard gaze. “Call me if she wakes up.”

“You do what you gotta do and make it painful.” He nods and turns his attention to Blake. “You make that bastard feel every little bit of pain she endured.”
