“Is it crazy that we spent the day together and I still missed you?” I asked.

“No. I missed you, too.”

I turned in his arms and looked up at him.

“Are you hungry?”

“Very.”

I grinned.

“I meant for dinner.”

He grunted and leaned in to steal a kiss that robbed me of the ability to think or speak for the next several minutes. I loved the way he kissed me. It alternated between all-consuming hunger and gentle brushes of his lips against my brow and eyelids, which made me feel like the most treasured thing in his life.

“I could do this all night,” I said when he moved to nip my earlobe.

He growled his agreement.

“But if I do, then I wouldn’t feed either of us.”

He sighed and pulled away from me.

“You are right. This is selfish of me. You must eat.” His gaze dipped to my lips, and I figured he was thinking of letting me go hungry a little longer. However, he surprised me with a completely different thought. “I will watch you move in the kitchen and think of how I will kiss you after.”

My core clenched at the thought of him watching me cook and fantasizing about tonight.

“I like the way you think.”

He sat on the stairs, out of view if anyone happened to try to look in through any of the curtained windows. I left the window in the kitchen open and turned on every light. The computer had music and a decent enough speaker, which I turned up. Anyone watching would witness me having a great time dancing around the kitchen in nothing but a tee-shirt and underwear while cooking way too much of today’s food.

There was a purpose to everything I did. The lack of clothes showed both a confidence that I was safe and a vulnerability because what man would view a woman in her underwear as a threat? The music showed a blatant disregard of Nat’s earlier threat and, hopefully, called attention to the house in an otherwise quiet neighborhood. The abundance of food was a throw down. If they wanted what I had, they needed to move fast.

I hoped it would be enough.

It sure was for Tor. His hungry gaze tracked every shake and shimmy I executed as I made our lavish meal. When I finished and turned off the music, I headed toward the stairs with one plate piled high with a ridiculous amount of food in my hand and two forks in the other.

He stood and retreated a step, making room for me to ascend but not taking his eyes off me for an instant.

“Any chance you’ll help me eat some of this?” I asked.

His gaze flicked to the food, and I could see a hint of impatience in them.

“If you help me, we’ll finish with the dinner portion of our evening faster so we can move onto the making out part.”

His gaze heated further.

“I will help,” he said finally.

Once we reached the bedroom, though, his version of helping was feeding me bites in between kissing any portion of exposed skin. Not even a quarter of the way through the mountain of food, I willingly set it aside in favor of Tor’s far better idea.

His mouth set me on fire, suckling my breast through the shirt while his hand cupped me through my underwear.

“Turn over,” he said huskily, stripping off his shirt while leaving mine in place.

Trusting him completely, I rolled to my stomach. He surprised me by using his hands on my back, applying the perfect pressure to rub out a knot I hadn’t even realized was there. When it released, he leaned in and kissed the spot before moving on. I groaned, relaxing even as he turned me on more.

It all felt so good. I melted into the mattress as he worked his way down to my legs with his hands and his lips. The pressure on my calves and the way he used his whole hand to knead the entire muscle had me groaning again.
