He left, boldly and beautifully naked. I watched him go without any regret over what we’d shared but a little worried that I’d upset Vorx, no matter what Turik said. Having them both say they only wanted me to be happy was one thing. Watching me do that was another. Yet, that’s exactly what they seemed to like to do.

I nibbled on my bottom lip and finished up in the bathroom. It wasn’t until I was ready to leave that I realized no one had dropped off any clean clothes for me.

Smiling a little, I wrapped a towel around my torso and left the bathroom.

The soft murmur of their voices drifted to me before I reached them.

“She isn’t afraid to touch us. I like that,” Turik said.

“Me too,” Vorx said. “And I like that she isn’t afraid of our touch. Did she let you bathe her breasts like she let me yesterday?”

My steps slowed as I listened.

“Yes. She does like it. Her pulse jumped, but I think she reacted more strongly this morning when you put your mouth on one.”

Vorx grunted. “She seemed to like your mouth on her pussy even better. Those were the best noises she’s made yet.”

“Her pussy tastes very good. I’m hungry for more just thinking about it. We will make her happy.”

An ache started in my chest.

“Yes. She needs both of us,” Vorx said.

“She doesn’t see it yet, but she will,” Turik agreed.

CHAPTERTWENTY-ONE

I wasn’t exactlysure how to process what I’d overheard. That they were completely fine with the way things were going was clear. But they’d sounded like they were talking long-term. Both of them. With me.

Why were my insides doing all kinds of somersaults at the idea of that? Of a forever home with TurikandVorx? I didn’t want long-term. I just wanted to live one day at a time.

Liar, that inner voice mocked. It was far easier to lie to myself, though, than to hope for impossible things. Until they found Nat and “relocated” him, living day by day was the only smart option.

Smart or the safer option for your heart?my mind whispered.

I turned around and retreated to the bedroom to dig out some clothes. There was no point in dwelling on what might be; I needed to focus on the present.

Both fey turned to look at me when I stepped into the kitchen a few minutes later.

“Aren’t either of you eating?” I asked when I saw only one cereal bowl.

“No,” Vorx said. “The cereal is yours and not something we enjoy. Come. Sit.”

He gestured to the chair next to Turik, and feeling awkward as hell, I took the seat.

“I can make you guys some of that meat gravy you liked and skip the biscuits.”

Vorx poured the same kind of cereal I’d had the day before into the bowl and added milk.

“We already ate some of the canned meat,” Turik said.

Feeling very watched, I slowly took a bite of cereal. It was just as good as the first time, and I forgot about my audience and enjoyed the food. When I sat back with a sigh, Vorx reached for the box.

“More?”

“No, thank you. Maybe tomorrow we could eat together so it’s less weird, though?”

They both grunted.
