He palmed the back of my neck, and I tipped my head back, ready to give him my lips.

“I will kiss her when I see her at home tonight,” he said softly. “When she begs for it.”

Emily laughed lightly. “You can blame the begging thing on Hannah. When Merdon figured out how to drive her wild, he told everyone.”

Vorx kissed the tip of my nose and stepped back so Turik could swoop in and give me a light kiss on the lips. Then they were gone.

“Come on. I’ll introduce you.”

I knew more than half of the women by name already and had seen the rest around Tenacity at some point. They smiled and said polite things while their eyes reflected a burning curiosity. I couldn’t be sure if it was due to the dual goodbyes they witnessed at the door or because I was now living with my ex’s hated enemies. Either way, I didn’t much care and focused on Sam’s knitting lessons.

Time passed with quiet conversation, a few groans of frustration, and the general clack of knitting needles. The skill escaped me. Maybe I was too tired or simply didn’t enjoy it enough to try harder. Either way, the pattern was loose in some spots, tight in others, and I tended to mess up the counts.

Two hours later, we called it quits. I wasn’t sad to unravel my attempt so someone else could reuse the yarn. Two ladies in the group went home with their knitting needles, and one had a semblance of a mitten going.

Outside, the fey were waiting like timeshare salesmen to talk the women into a ride home. Emily and I watched the women get whisked away one by one with far less reluctance than I would have expected. A few of the ones I knew waved goodbye.

Hannah went outside, looked both ways, then took off at a run.

Emily closed the door with a laugh, and I returned to the couch to wait for my guys to show up.

“So, what do you think? Are you going to try again tomorrow?” she asked.

“Knitting? Probably not. I don’t think I have the patience for it. I’d rather find something I can do outside. Like gardening. Great for summer, but not so great for this time of year. Too bad we don’t have a greenhouse or something.”

“Let your guys know you want one, and they’ll find you something. Or build it.” Her gaze lit with excitement. “It wouldn’t be a bad thing to get started. Julie’s been collecting canning supplies, but I know people are hungry for fresh greens again. Mary and I were experimenting with growing sprouts. We even did some lettuce. Nothing large scale, but if you could manage it, there sure would be a lot of people willing to trade.”

“I’ll let them know,” I promised. “So, where did Hannah run off to?”

“Angel’s, if I were to guess. She’s toying with Merdon, which is her new favorite pastime. That man is crazy in love with her but doesn’t put up with any of her crap, which is really good for her. However, that means the two of them sometimes butt heads. Right now, she’s trying to mess with his favorite way of snapping her out of her funks.”

“I don’t understand.”

“Merdon trains Hannah like you trained this morning. Only it’s a lot harder because he’s fey and fast and strong.” She waved her hand. “You get what I mean. Anyway, he spanks her when she doesn’t defend herself well enough. It’s an incentive to try harder.

“She’s going to Angel’s to get a butt plug. I’m not sure if she’ll actually use it or if she just wants it in the house so Merdon will wonder if it’s in and be in a constant state of arousal. Like he’s not already.” Emily shook her head. “Seriously, they’re at it all the time. Eight rounds in one day last week. Her all-time high.”

I hesitated only a minute before sharing.

“Turik and Vorx talk a lot about limits and that Eden has to ice afterward.”

Emily grinned. “Ghua is more sex-obsessed than the average fey, I think. I heard he finagled twelve rounds out of her in one day, and four were oral.”

I cringed.

“Yeah, that was my thought, too. But Hannah swears the fey are magic and the things they can make a girl feel are worth it. And they’re getting smarter about breaks for restorative baths and icing.”

“And I have two of them?” I said, a little worried for myself.

“Never forget the power of ‘No,’” Emily said with a pat to my hand.

Hannah breezed in several minutes later.

“Look who I found at Angel’s,” she said, holding the door for Vorx and Turik. “And guess what they were looking at.” She held up a pink and black box with a cellophane window that left no doubt what held their interest. “Don’t worry. Angel didn’t let them take one. You’re safe.”

Turik looked like a kid busted stealing cookies. Vorx’s expression was carefully blank as he watched for my reaction.

“Still not a topic open for discussion,” I said calmly. “Normal first.”
