“Delicious?” Fletch’s playful voice drifts along the hall. “You awake?”

“Shut the fuck up!” Archer booms back. “Go away.”

A desperate giggle rolls along my throat. “He’s going to know what we were doing.”

“He won’t.”

“Your anger will tell him.”

Delirious and somewhat dizzy, I sit up on my bed and open my legs. It’s crude, unladylike, but I look down at the wet slick coating my thighs and sigh. “I was so close.”

“I’m gonna kill him.” As he stands against the wall, his chain glittering when the sunlight peeking through the window sparkles off the edges of a link, Archer’s cock stands tall in his boxers. Begging for attention. Demanding fair treatment. “I have no loyalty for a man who messes with the time you and I have in bed.”

“You need to go have a shower,” I snigger. “Cool off before you hit him.” Closing my legs again, I climb off the bed and use my towel to clean my thighs as best I can. “I’ll go start the coffee.”

“You’re too calm,” he huffs, “considering you were right on the edge.”

“I’m floating on hysteria.” Moving to my dresser and taking out a fresh pair of panties, I drop the towel and step into the skimpy fabric. “And I woke up in a good mood. He’s lucky.”

“Archer?” Like he doesn’t fear for his life, Fletch chuckles. “Where are you?”

“I’ll tear his fucking eyes out.”

I flatten my lips and select a pair of yoga pants to pull along my legs. “Nice one, Malone. You sure have evolved a long way since leaving the family home.”

Snagging a shirt and slipping it over my frizzy hair—considering I fell asleep with it wet and wrapped in a towel—I step closer to a still-reeling Archer and reach up to loop my finger around his chain. Pulling him down, I inhale his racing breath and smile. “Take a minute. Gather yourself.”

“How are you so calm?” His eyes are wild with want. “How aren’t you pissed?”

“Because I’m happy.” Standing on my toes, I press a kiss to his still-glistening lips. “And I got good head this morning. I would’ve done you next, but…” Teasing, I shrug. “Time ran out.”

“I’m gonna kill him.” Hooking his arm around my torso and tugging me in close, Archer’s mouth locks over mine and takes. Takes. Takes. He makes it so I taste myself on his tongue. He transfers his desperation to my blood and shares the pain he feels from an incomplete job. Then he pulls back so we disconnect with a gasp and leaves me swaying on my feet. “I’m going for a shower.”

I nod, speechless and searching for breath.

“I’m gonna rub you out of my system while I’m in there.”

“Wait. Archer—”

“And you have to host Fletch, since apparently you’re not mad about his intrusion.” Opening the door and gently smacking my ass, he sends me skipping forward in not nearly as good a mood as just a minute ago. “Have fun, babe. I’ll be out in ten.”

Gnashing my teeth, I pass the bathroom door and wish I could meet Archer in the shower. In the warmth of his arms while he brings us both to completion. But instead, I get Fletch and his annoyingly happy mood first thing in the morning.

Stumbling along the hall, I reach the end and look to the kitchen to find Fletch already sipping a fresh cup of coffee. Behind the lip of the mug, he smirks.

“Mornin’, Dimples.” Lowering his mug, he runs his tongue along the front of his top teeth. “How’s it going?”

“I’m gonna maim you,” I grit out. “I’m gonna tear off your nu—”

“Minka!” A little girl’s soft voice brings me around with a panicked whirl.

The three-year-old ball of energy bounds away from the couch and the cat. “Oh my gosh, Minka! G’morning, Minka!”

“Mia?” My nervous system is in overload. My senses, overworked. But my arms open anyway. My knees bend as I lower myself down, then I catch her when she jumps from three feet away. “What are you… What?” I hug her to my chest and inhale the scent of her strawberry shampoo, but I bring my eyes back to a taunting Fletcher. “I don’t…”

“You seem…” He brings his coffee up again to hide his smile. “As though the blood is not in your brain, Doc. Perhaps it’s elsewhere?”

“You’re lucky I don’t hurt you.” Disgusted, I push up to stand and turn toward the living room. “It’s still early, Moo. Why are you here?” Then a thought hits me. “Did Penny mess up? Did she do something wrong and make you sad?”
