“I could ask the same question,” I murmur. I close my eyes to savor the sensations running through me.

Cleaning ourselves is thrown out the window as we touch, kiss, and then make love in the shower. Alec effortlessly lifts me and anchors me against the tiled wall. I wrap my legs around his waist, and he takes me hard and fast. It’s over quickly, both of us coming fast. When it’s over, we look at each other and laugh. I love how in sync our bodies are.

“That has got to be a record,” Alec says. “You’re turning me into a horny teenage boy who comes as soon as his cock touches his girl’s pussy.”

I laugh. “That makes two of us. I orgasmed in under two minutes.”

We dive under the water again and wash each other. I laugh at Alec as his cock rises to the occasion again. We leave the bathroom laughing like kids and wrapped up in the large white hotel towels.

“How about dinner before I drop you back home?” Alec says.

“Sounds good,” I tell him as I pull on my dress.

We dress together as though we’ve been doing it for years. When I’m fully dressed, Alec pats my belly.

“Your body is changing so fast,” he says. “I want to see every change when it happens.”

I grin. “Sometimes I miss the changes myself and only notice later.”

He grows solemn. “Please don’t go off again without telling me. Please. I was worried sick.”

Everything goes still except for my pounding heart. I don’t want to get too excited or draw conclusions, but it sounds like it’s not just sex. Maybe Alec is feeling it too. The thought is so frightening and at the same time, exhilarating that I banish it from my mind.

“How did you get Molly to give you my parents’ address?”

“It was work. She’s like the FBI,” he says, and I burst out laughing. “I ended up telling her the truth. That I was coming to apologize to you. It wasn’t enough. She wanted to know what had happened and whether I was truly sorry.”

I laugh, unsurprised by Molly’s behavior. She has always been the protective big sister for as long as I can remember.

“I deserved it, though,” Alec says ruefully.

We head downstairs to the restaurant for dinner. It feels surreal to have Alec here in Florida. We choose a table on the terrace with a view of the beach and the ocean.

“This is the life.” I inhale the salt air. “My parents are lucky to live here.”

“They are,” Alec says. “They’re good people too. Your mom gave me a hard time at first, but it’s perfectly understandable.”

I cringe inwardly. If I’d known Alec would be coming, I’d have edited the tale I told my mom. Plus, I’d not have been so angry when telling it. As it was, she got the whole storyandmy bitterness.

I make a face. “Sorry.”

“Don’t be. She had every right to be upset. You’re her daughter.”

Alec is so reasonable that I feel ashamed of my anger toward his mother. Sure, she behaved badly, but it wasn’t right to take it out on Alec. The server brings our drinks.

“Do you miss your parents?” Alec says when the waiter leaves.

“I do now that I’m pregnant. It would be nice to have them living near me. Ready-made babysitters and all,” I add playfully.

“I’m sure my mom will be happy to babysit when you want her to,” Alec says.

I can’t picture Dr. Anderson babysitting. But she gave birth to and raised three boys, so obviously she can take care of a baby. It’s fun to talk about our baby and pretend that we’ll be a real family when she comes.

Time flies, and we only realize it’s time to leave when we’re the only ones left in the restaurant.

“The servers must hate us,” I tell Alec with a laugh as we’re leaving. “We’re the lingering customers.”

“I disagree. We’re the customers who enjoys the restaurant and spread the word. I bet they loved us,” Alec says.
