“I have no idea,” he said. “And if I did I wouldn’t tell you. That’s confidential.”

She laughed. “It’s not a doctor’s office. No one signed any HIPAA documentation or the like that I’m aware of.”

Liam smirked at her and turned back to work. She wouldn’t get anything out of them and decided to go see what Aimee was up to.

“Hi, Jolene,” Aimee said. “I see you’ve got Sidney’s shirt on today.”

“I do. You know, I should talk to Ella about making one of the rooms upstairs a daycare for you all. Think of how easy that would be if we hired someone to keep an eye on the kids while you worked. It’s not like a daycare per se, but then they’d all be in the same building. You know, for when you want to add another kid to the mix.”

Aimee laughed. “I love the idea, but I’m not sure you are going to get anyone to come to this building and work upstairs and watch babies. It’s not quiet enough for naptime and my son needs his nap or he’s miserable.”

“He wouldn’t stay put anyway,” she said. Evan sure was a wild one.

“No. He’d want to come down here and run around. Though it does kind of make sense when it’s not full time. You’re good with ideas; you can bring it up to Ella. See what she thinks. But the family is a bit too big if you ask me. We are here working and not watching the kids.”

“I could come and watch them though,” she said. “Then I’d have them all at once and in one place.”

“Again,” Aimee said, turning to wait on someone at the bar. “Bring it up with your kids.”

“Mom,” Brody said. “We are busy. In summary, yes, I love trying to get my wife pregnant, but that doesn’t mean we are actually trying for that to happen. Nic and Alex are done, Ella is ready to burst. Margo isn’t married yet. That has covered the whole group of us working just now.”

She sighed. “There are still people that are single.”

“If you say so,” Brody said.

“Do you know something I don’t know?” she asked. “Or am not supposed to know?”

Brody shook his head and laughed. “Yeah, a lot of things. But if you are asking me if Ivan and Kendra have anything going, that, I don’t know. Sorry.”

She almost stomped her foot as she moved away. She didn’t get as much as she hoped for today.

Ivan opened the door for Kendra. He’d gotten home and changed quickly, barely making it down the stairs before the doorbell went off.

“Happy Valentine’s Day,” he said, leaning in to kiss her and take the food out of her hand that was in a box rather than a bag. That surprised him.

“You too,” she said. “Though I said it earlier via text, I’ll say it now. Happy Valentine’s Day.” She let out a giggle. “You aren’t going to believe this. But it occurred to me earlier today this is the first time I’ve been dating someone for Valentine’s Day.”

“Really?” he asked. Now he felt like shit that they weren’t doing any gifts like they’d agreed. Well, he still did something but not enough to get her pissed. Or so he hoped. More like cute.

Cute wasn’t something he thought much of, but this idea popped into his head and he had to do it.

“Yeah. I’m a loser, I know. I mean I’ve dated. You know that. It’s just I never seemed to be at this time of year.”

“You’re not a loser. Let’s get this food out too,” he said. “I’m hungry, but this looks like a lot. What did you get?”

She started to laugh. “There was a spaghetti special. You know for likeLady and the Tramptype food. It came with two meatballs.”

“Yum,” he said. “That means it’s going to be Nic’s recipe.”

“I also got a French dip sandwich and fries. I figured we could do what we always do and either pick or split the choices. It’s more food than we need. But Liam came over and told me you love Nic’s bread and it comes with the tomato and mozzarella salad. So I grabbed that too.”

He grinned. “You didn’t tell me Liam knew.”

“He guessed and I didn’t say anything. All he said were those words. I said it sounded good and added it to the order. That was after he and Margo reminded me they’d been in my shoes when your aunt cornered me.”
