You want to hunt her down, make her submit to you. You want to fill her up and mark her.The voices in my head were right. I wanted to do exactly that, then spend all night making sure she knew exactly who she belonged to.

The thought of capturing her and bringing her home as a prize made my dick painfully hard in my pants, especially while running. I heard her clumsy feet smack against the dirt and her strained panting. Her heart beat twice as fast as she realized I was closing in. Finally I got a visual on her, and she didn’t stand a chance. All her adrenaline was wearing off, letting her fear take over.

“Little Goddess!” I screamed. “You can run, but you can never hide from me.I will always find you.”

I was less than a hundred feet away now, close enough to reach out and grab her. My laughter caught her off guard as she stumbled on a fallen tree log, landing on her hands and knees.Gotcha. I pounced on her, turning her onto her back and pinning her hands above her head.

I leaned down onto her, using my body weight to pin her down. Our noses were almost touching. “My beautiful Diana, why are you running away from me?”

“Fucking psychotic prick, youkidnappedme!” she screamed, trying her hardest to buck me off her. She was strong, but not nearly strong enough to escape. “You lit thosethingson fire! Are you seriously asking me why I’m running away?!”

A few tears fell in long, winding paths down her cheeks. I licked them up–and my guess earlier had been right–they were salty and emotional and utter deliciousness. I caught a few more as they fell, before I moved to her neck, licking the skin at her pulse point and tasting the sweat and spice of her skin. I ghosted my lips over it, lightly kissing her. She still smelled of mild fear and confusion, but the wisp of lust was more potent than before. When I leaned back so I could look into her steel blue eyes, she spat in my face, right in the corner of my mouth.

I licked the spit off, noting that it tasted just like her tears. “Oh,fuck, that’s hot. Maybe next time you can spit directly into my mouth?”

Her shock and irritated huff were adorable. She could never rattle me because I was invested in her now. I had never felt so alive as I did when I was chasing her. There was nothing she could do or say to make me not want her. Something about this woman drew me in, and I was not going to let her go. Bash could fuck off if he thought he wasn’t sharing her.

“We may have kidnapped you, but those things I killed were after you. They’re not the good guys. Neither are we, but we don’t want tohurtyou.” She tried to wriggle away from me again, determined to free herself. “You’ll see in due time why we took you. It was for your own good.”

“Get. Off. Me.NOW.” Her voice was low and even, the threat in her words clear.

I got off her, careful to maintain my hold on her hands. I threw her over my shoulder again and sped toward the house. She screamed the entire way as she clawed at my back with her blood red fingernails, clearly taken aback by the jarring movement. When we got to the house, Desmond waited by the door, his brows furrowed and his jaw clenched.

“Put her down, Ares.” I did, turning her in my arms so she faced him. He cuffed her wrists with bright, neon-red magic bindings. “Your magic is triggered by your emotions, and it's uncontrollable right now. These cuffs will block it. When the others get back, we’ll explain everything.”

Desmond took Ares’ free hand and faded them back to the house together with Diana. The smirks of triumph as they left with her grated me. This was a huge mistake, but one Desmond was determined to make us follow through on. Bash’s face was sour, probably because Ares has his hands all over her.

Stay behind and finish looking through that scaler’s thoughts and memories, so we can get a better idea of who his superior may be,Desmond linked us.

Bash punched our hostage and knocked him out cold, putting his hands on either side of his head. He dug around in his mind for over fifteen minutes, which wasn’t promising.

“Did you get anything?” I asked.

“There wasn’t a lot there for me to find, but I did come across something interesting. Whoever employed him went through his memory and wiped some parts. But aside from that, it’s not altered. I’m assuming he did it to all of them.” Bash looked around the room for another survivor, but there was nothing left. The fire and smoke enveloping the room would be enough to kill an average man, but not a hellbound and an incubus. Hellspawn were impervious to fire.

“We need to go home before the fire department gets here,” Bash warned as he dragged the bound, unconscious reptilian shifter with him.

Now that I had seen Diana in person, I could understand why Desmond wanted to take her. She had an appealing, raw power–albeit an uncontrolled one. We would waste a lot of time training her, that was for sure. What I didn’t understand was why Bash had to claim her in the first place and put all of us in this position. He had fed off of much better people. He’d had actresses and actors, Fortune 500 company owners, professional athletes, and some of the most beautiful socialites in Manhattan. He could have literally claimed anyone, yet he choseher.

“Awww, why the sour face Bash-A-Smash? Mad that Ares is gonna make opa with your girl?” The corners of his mouth turned down as his eyes went black. He was obviously not amused by me telling the truth. As soon as Ares saw her picture, Diana was a goner. “Is there any way you can return her? Undo the claim?”

He smacked me in the back of the head. “If you’re smart, you’ll get with the plan and start being nice, because our freedom from this miserable fucking existence rests on her. Now that I’ve claimed her, she’s mine. She’s my priority. Don’t make me show you that the hard way.”

Well fuck me, then.I guess brotherhood and letting someone fuck you in the ass doesn’t mean much when you have a fresh, fat ass waiting for you at home.He grabbed my hand, and we faded together to the house. The prisoner woke up while we traveled, probably from the inertia. When we entered, I teleported with him to the dungeon below our basement.

“I was just following orders, I had to. Don’t hurt me!” he screamed.

“And so am I,” I laughed. “Take a gander at my Wall of Fun. I’ll let you pick the first tool I use to torture you.”

I threw him in the holding cell. When he hit the stone wall, his body deflated, the air in his lungs hissing out. The cell was conveniently located across from the wall that displayed all of Ares’ and my torture devices, which I affectionately named The Wall of Fun. Collections of knives, hammers, antique implements, dentistry tools, waterboarding equipment, and unique contraptions adorned this side of the dungeon. This scaly scumbag would shake in his boots, staring at all of our toys and contemplating the awful things we would do to him later.Their anticipatory fear always made torture more fun.I looked forward to it.

Mal, meet us in the dining room.Desmond’s voice seemed edgy, so I didn’t want to keep him waiting too long.

Last night’s group activities didn’t make him any less nervous about executing the plan today. Now that we had a new person in the house Desmond would be firmer, to show her he was the top dog. What a control freak.

When I got there, he was dressed again, in black joggers and a white t-shirt. His biceps bulged against the material. Diana sat in a chair, her hands bound in Desmond’s red magical bindings. The light radiated around her dainty wrists. It blocked her magic, because I couldn’t feel any of it coming off her like I had before at the club. Her makeup was smeared. Tears stained with black mascara ran down her face, leaving tracks behind. Her lipstick was smudged and her hair wasunfortunate. I hoped she’d seen better days, for Bash’s sake. It would be awful for him to have claimed a girl who looked like this on a daily basis. Bash’s entire body tensed as he sat in the chair next to Diana and laid a comforting hand on her thigh. He started to rub it back and forth, shushing her in what I assumed was supposed to be a calming way. Hysterics weren’t my thing, so I couldn’t relate.

“Let me go!” she screamed, slamming her closed fists on the table hard enough to shake the glass of water sitting in front of her. “You’re keeping me here against my will! This is kidnapping!Who the fuck are you people?!”
