“Diana,” I growled, “Who owns every inch of you? Who knows your body inside and out and turns your pussy into a needy, greedy little slut?” I stopped moving completely.

“You! You do. Please don’t stop.Ineed you!” she cried.

The animalistic urge to destroy her pussy overtook me as I thrusted deep inside her, up to my rapidly swelling knot. I felt my magic skyrocket as I fed off her lust. She had almost died. I almost lost my Birdie. The terrifying thought of living in a world without her drove me into a frenzy as I pummeled into her faster, harder. I wanted her to feel my need for her as I branded her from the inside.

She was mine, she’d always be mine.

Her breathing deepened to a pant and she reached up to grab the back of my neck, digging her nails into my skin.

“Oh, oh FUCK,” she screamed. Her pussy constricted around me as my own finish loomed nearby. It tingled in my balls, coursing through my shaft.

I lifted her leg higher, grabbing the part of her thigh right over my mark, and slammed my knot inside her, filling her with my cum. I felt the mattress dip behind me and looked over my shoulder. Ares had rolled over in his sleep, his back facing me. He slept like the dead. I gathered Diana in my arms, pulling her against me.

“How could you fuck me awakeandput me to sleep? I’m exhausted,” she yawned. Her voice still sounded weak and tired from Mal strangling her.

“Shhh, Birdie. Go back to sleep. I’ll wake you up again later.”

For now, the fear inside me was quelled enough that I could relax. Even as she slept in my arms, I was still worried about waking up and finding out it was all a dream, that she was gone from the world. My knot hadn’t gone down yet, trapping my dick inside her. Having our most intimate parts entwined together was a constant reminder of her presence and eased my mind. I closed my eyes, slowly drifting off.

When I woke up again, Diana wasn’t in bed. I put my boxers back on and searched Desmond’s bathroom, sitting room, and all over her own suite. Sitting on her bed, I closed my eyes and concentrated, weaving my magic around the house to locate her. Nothing. How can she not be in the house? She’s unable to leave.

Ares sped into the room at his abnormal godly speed, dressed in his stupid OPA comic book pajamas. The frown on his face did not bode well. “I can’t find Diana anywhere. I wanted to ask her to shower together, but she’s gone. I went through every room in the house, picked through the grounds, and couldn't find her anywhere.”

“I couldn’t find her in the house either. Where’s Desmond, maybe she went somewhere with him?” A flicker of hope passed through me. That was the obvious explanation. Shemustbe with him, maybe running an errand?

“He had to handle something at one of the clubs. I linked him, and he said he’s coming back right away. When he tried to mindlink her, she didn’t answer.” Ares sat next to me, hanging his head in his hands.

“Wait, he can mindlink her?” I asked. No one had told me about this.

“It only happened yesterday, right before we barged in. Desmond thinks him saving her life and admitting his feelings helped her trust him more. She’s not responding to him, so their mindlink isn’t very useful right now,” he huffed.

Desmond’s ability to mindlink with Diana made me beyond jealous. She was mine; Iclaimedher. Why didn’t she trust me enough to mindlink with me? I had tried to before we fell asleep the night she arrived, and she didn’t respond.Fuck, after she found out I claimed her without asking, she might hate me. Would she ever be able to trust me after that? The better question was, how could she mindlink in the first place? Only high-power beings were able to do that, and I didn’t know of any witches or warlocks, aside from Merlin, who could.

None of that mattered right now, though. We had to find her. I grabbed Ares’ hand and faded us outside of Mal’s room. I highly doubted she would go anywhere near him after what happened between them, but I wanted to cover all of my bases before I lost my shite and panicked. I lifted my hand to the center of the door and used my palm to unlock his ward with some darker magic. In regular circumstances, it would be a dick move to override someone’s wards, but this was an emergency.

“What are we doing here?” Ares asked. His usual exuberance and bravado was long gone and he looked like he was about to cry. “Why would she go into his room?”

“She wouldn’t, but that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t take her by force.” As I said the words, pure worry washed over me. My mind fell further down the rabbit hole of worry and paranoia with every second we were apart. “Mal didn’t attack Diana willingly, he was possessed. I’ll explain the whole story when we’re all together.”

I stormed through the suite, right into Mal’s bedroom with Ares hot on my heels. Glowing embers in the fireplace dimly lit the room. Ares used his fire magic to revive the fire, illuminating Mal’s sleeping form before us and throwing shadows all over the clean, light blue walls. He was curled into a ball, fully dressed in what he wore the night before, including the neon red cuff glowing against his ankle. His tense face and clenched jaw marred his youthful face. I wasn’t sure how I felt about him. He didn’t deserve my hatred, but I wasn’t ready to give him sympathy. The entity possessing him wouldn’t have had negative emotions to work from if he didn’t hate Diana.

I hit Mal with an energy blast to wake his arse up. He convulsed on the bed, taken aback from the shock. I always favored molding my energy to feel like electricity; a good buzz was a priceless tool to have in one’s arsenal. He jolted upright, rubbing the side of his head.

“What’s going on?” He looked between Ares and myself. I smelled his fear, but it didn’t seem fresh. If Mal had done something else to Diana, I doubt fear would be the emotion he’d feel.

“Diana is missing. She was here earlier tonight, but when we woke up she was gone. We checked everywhere, but she’s not on the grounds. Do you have anything to do with this?”

“No. Why would I go near her alone after what I did? After what we talked about?” He looked somewhat guilty, but not enough in my opinion.

Ares scowled at Mal, surprising me as he grabbed his arm, pulling his pathetic form from the bed and throwing it on the floor. He straddled Mal and punched him square in the nose. “Where is she?” His voice took on a heavy, cavernous echo, and his entire body glowed. He may not have been asscary lookingas Desmond, Mal, or myself when he shifted, but he was just as powerful and dangerous.

Ares held on to both sides of Mal’s head, locking eyes with him. The sickeningly sweet scent of Mal’s fear filled the air as his face went sheet white. His small horns burst from his head as he lost control and partially shifted to his hellbound form. “I-I don’t know where she is. I’ve been in my room the entire night.”

Deranged didn’t even begin to describe the laughter that came from Ares’ mouth. “Do you know why I’m called the God of War? Because I’m the spirit of battle. And battle, Mal, is chaos. I am the literal embodiment of chaos on earth.” Ares slowly twisted Mal’s head to the side, until it was a hair away from snapping. Mal sucked in a pained breath. “People think immortality means you can’t die, and for the most part that’s true. You’re protected from mortal injury. But as a younger supernatural being, your power isn’t as strong as mine. Being immortal doesn’t make you immune to pain. And as we’ve both witnessed, I can torture someone and cause them a whole world of pain for an indefinite amount of time, even if they can’t die.”

Ares quickly snapped Mal’s neck in just the right way so he didn’t die, but suffocated instead. He held it down to put pressure on the injury. Mal’s face contorted in agony, his face turning red as he struggled to breathe. He couldn’t die, but he could feel every bit of pain from the injury. His labored breaths carried on from a lack of oxygen. His immortal body worked to heal the injury, and eventually his neck was whole again.
