“I’m not dead at all, asshole. And I never will be. My brother and the rest of his men know damn well that if they come near me, I’ll kill their ass. No questions asked.”

Judas brings Micah back and he sits down at the bar. His brows wrinkle and he snorts. “You’re one guy. I’m pretty sure that an entire mob family isn’t terrified of just one guy.”

My lips twist and I take another sip. “They know me better than you do. I’ve already buried more than one of them. And they’ll never figure out where they are.”

“That doesn’t inspire confidence. You’re a killer.”

I nod at Judas. “I don’t hear you throwing shit all over him. He’s a killer too.”

“I know him. I don’t know you. Besides that I know he would never hurt my princess. You’re an unknown quantity. I don’t like surprises.”

I laugh. “What’s the matter? Your parents surprised you with socks on Christmas?”

“Actually my parents died on Christmas. A flight home to see me.”

My smile fades. “I’m sorry. I didn’t know that.”

He nods. “I don’t talk about it with every Tom, Dick and Harry. It’s been a few years.”

I can still see the pain lurking in the ebony depths of his narrowed gaze. Shrugging, I stand and pace away, staring at the front of the restaurant.

“I’m still sorry. But I feel like we’re going round in circles. Perhaps you should just tell me what you want from me.”

“It’s not what I want from you.”

Judas growls. “For fuck’s sake! You two are driving me nuts! Are you involved with anyone right now, Kane?”

“I told you I don’t have time to be involved with a woman right now. I barely have time to sleep. I definitely don’t have time to find a woman and fuck her. Let alone dating. Nope. Not interested.”

“This isn’t exactly dating. It’s kind of a sure thing.”

“What the hell are you talking about?”

“Alright.” Micah stalks back and forth, his hard jaw set and his dark eyes glaring at me. “I still don’t know enough about you to trust you.”

Judas grunts. “Trust me. He’s a good guy no matter what his family is. He has more of a moral compass than they have on their best day.”

“Fine. If I wasn’t so fucking desperate I’d ask a helluva lot more questions. But I need to get this set up. I’ve finally got her right where I want her and I’m not letting her get cold feet and run.”

“What are you talking about, dude?”

“I have a friend. A woman friend.”

I snort and lean against the bar, crossing my feet lazily. My eyebrows lift. “You’re in love with her.”

“How did you know that?”

“I can see it on your face.” I shoot another look at Judas and he drops his emerald gaze. “You love her as well.”

Both of them nod, meeting my eyes steadily. “Yeah. We do.”

Micah sighs and runs his hands into his hair, tugging at the strands. “I’ve been in love with her since the first time I saw her but she was married.”

“I don’t touch married women.”

“She’s a widow. Has been for six years. Anyway, she started telling me recently about these dreams she’s having at night. She’s with three men making love to her. And they’re all being watched by others.”

I quirk a brow at him. My eyes slide to the two of them and I shake my head. “You can’t mean you two? You think you’re going to make love to this woman you’re both in love with in front of a crowd of people.”
