"If you'll excuse me," I snap, leaving her standing with her mouth on the tile floor.

I meet Hanna in the doorway as she grabs my hand, dragging me into the backyard.

"Are you okay?" I ask as she pulls me into the tightest hug I think she's ever given me.

"They just piss me off," she laughs, "I know it's stupid."

"Your dad said I shouldn't chase after you. I wanted to make sure you were okay."

"It's alright. Dad knows it takes a minute for me to get my head straight after an altercation with my mom."

"I thought you were mad at Adam."

She shakes her head, "Adam isn't as bad as he seems. It's my mother constantly making me feel inferior to Adam. I had better grades, got in less trouble, but still, it wasn't enough. I tried so hard to make her proud, but I wasn't ever good enough because I wasn't a size zero pageant queen like Annabeth. I'll never be good enough."

I push her hair behind her ear, "You're beautiful. You will always be good enough for me."

She sighs, laying backward on the wooden trailer we're sitting on, her gaze moving to the sky.

"The stars are so much brighter here."

I lay next to her, positioning my head next to hers, the scent of her hair intoxicating me, "They're beautiful. It's so nice out here, away from the city."

"It's pretty amazing," She agrees, turning to face me, "What did my mother say to you."

I blow out an aggravated sigh, "Nothing I didn't already know."

"And my dad?"

"Your dad is cool. He really gets you, doesn't he?"

"He's really good at damage control when it comes to my mother."

"Your mother is missing out on how great you are."

Her lips brush gently against mine. Just the simple touch sending a rush of adrenaline through my veins. If I could, I would spend the rest of my life right here in this spot, kissing her.

"Do you want to get married?" I ask, her face turning a ghostly shade of white.

"What?" She gasps, withdrawing from my embrace, sitting up.

"I just mean do you want to get married one day," I clarify, realizing how that sounded.

"Oh," she blows out a relieved breath, "Of course, I do. Someday."

"Me too. I've never been sure about that until I met you."

"What do you mean?" She asks, moving to straddle my lap, driving me insane with the desire to feel her.

"I just watched my mom and dad's relationship and never really thought that a love like this was real."

"It's real," She confirms, wrapping her arms around my neck, her fingers raking through the hair at the nape of my neck, "I could see us getting married." She admits, "You looking incredibly sexy in a tux, magnolias everywhere, the stars shining over us during our first dance."

I laugh, "Sounds like you've got it all planned out."

"I've never wanted anything more," She agrees, reconnecting her lips with mine.

I never thought I'd meet the girl I wanted to marry at eighteen years old, but I can say that there isn't a soul that could hold a candle to Hanna.

Not now, not ever.
