His brow raises, "You mean the tree-hugging coffee girl?"

"Yeah."

"I think she has a class with Jack. He's tried to get with her since school started, claims she fits his girl next door fetish."

I erupt in laughter, "That girl ate me alive. There's no way in hell she'd give Jack the time of day."

"You want her to give you the time of day?" He raises a brow.

"No, but I owe her a drink. Fuck, maybe you do. That was a horrible throw."

"Okay, butterfingers, see you at practice."

I offer him a wave, walking toward the science building, quickly remembering that I have Chemistry with Jack.

I'm almost late as I barrel into the auditorium, searching the room for Jack. He's right in the back with some other football players, and they all turn my way as I walk over to them. I usually sit closer to the front with some guys I met in a study group that actually possess brain cells, but I am determined to ask Jack about that girl. He's probably the biggest flirt on campus. He's also a freshman, but trust me, that doesn't stop him from chasing after girls no matter what year they are.

"What's up, Banks?"

"Nothing," I whisper, taking the seat next to him.

"What can us freshman bench warmers do for you?" He smiles, pushing his hand back through his black hair.

I ask him about the girl, trying to remember everything about her, down to the color of her backpack.

He can't control his laughter, earning him a snobby look from Professor Clark, "That is Hanna Mason."

He pulls up her Instagram page, intricately scrolling through pictures, "She's cute as hell, her parents own a vineyard in South Georgia, she's really fucking smart. Like got accepted to Yale smart. Guess that's why she didn't wanna go out with me."

I laugh a little bit, staring a little too long at his phone, memorizing her face.

"You gonna ask her out, quarterback?"

I shake my head, looking down to finish writing some notes, "Nah, I just owe her a coffee."
