I laughed with him. “Thanks for saving me from Orion.”

“Any time. He’s freaky, and not at all in the good way,” he said.

“I don’t know who scares me more, him or his brother,” I told him.

“His brother? Lord Halvorsen? Has he done something to scare you?” He asked, and I shook my head.

“No, not really. He’s just angry,” I explained.

“I get that feeling from him,” he agreed. “You know you can turn to us? The other Borealis servants, we look after each other. You’re one of us.”

“Thanks,” I said, feeling warmed. I had begun to feel like I had friends within the other Borealis servants, but I hadn’t realised I had become considered part of them.

“Come, wander with me. Let’s find my wayward brother and Edward,” he said, holding out his arm for me.

“I thought you and Edward would have arrived together. He’s your date.” I said, confused.

“Heismy date, maybe remind him of that when we find him,” he said, sounding annoyed.

“Why isn’t he here with you now?” I asked.

“He was preoccupied with ensuring everyone followed the dress code,” he said exasperatedly. I laughed, really laughed. “It’s not funny Percy. I was standing all handsomely ready to leave, and he spots one pair of grey socks worn by a first year and off he marches to demand they change… and then some girl had a crease in her dress -,” he threw his free hand up in the air. “I left him to it. I don’t even think he noticed me leave.”

I attempted to control my laughing, but I could imagine Edward’s behaviour.

“That is very funny, Jasper,” I told him. “I’m sorry, but it’s nothing less than I would expect from Edward.”

“I know,” he sighed happily. “Is it wrong that I kind of like it?”

I laughed more, “It would be a short-lived relationship if you didn’t,” I told him.

“Jasper!” We both turned to see Justin walking quickly towards us, in his suit that matched Jasper’s apart from the tie which had a subtle diamond pattern.

“Hey,” Jasper greeted his twin.

“Don’t ‘hey’ me!” Justin growled. “You left me with your psychotic boyfriend. He polished my shoes, wouldn’t let me leave until he had.” I burst into fits of giggles along with Jasper.

“Where is my psychotic boyfriend now?” Jasper asked.

“With his Viridis friends,” Justin scowled.

“Harris and Dylan?” I asked.

“And that witch,” he replied.

“Ana. Her name is Ana. You could learn her name,” I told him. He shrugged, uncaring, turning back to Jasper.

“Don’t leave me alone like that again. You know I hate these things,” he said, upset.

“I’m sorry, Justin. Don’t worry, your big brother is here now,” Jasper replied condescendingly, and Justin looked like he might hit his twin.

“Very funny, very funny,” Justin deadpanned.

“I’m still older, by a whole day!” Jasper told him.

“By ten minutes. Ten minutes separates us, Jasper,” he replied tiredly as if he had been having the same argument for years.

Jasper only smiled fondly at his annoyed brother.
